Might I suggest a IBIS TEC medium towbar or the light hunter towbar. They weigh about the same both are plenty strong for a CUCV and the only real difference is storage size the IBIS TEC is shorter but twice the diameter of the hunter lightweight.

You better install them they are to hard to come by. The trucks I have driven with them were not much different on regular ground, only when you get on the throttle in a corner or in the slick stuff.

Because you don't put whole bead over the edge all at once, you put it on at an angle and only have to get two points to go past 21.5" which just kinda ovals the bead slightly for a second, no biggie.

If you want to you could weld a tube over the ends and the springs wouldn't stick out, and you could still disassemble it, and it would reinforce the sheet metal.
