I used a 24 OZ ball peen and set them with one swing each. You will be a little leary of hitting it too hard the first time but I bet you will set the second one perfect the first time.

Here are the pictures of the frost plugs. I didn't find pictures of the front of the bare block, sorry. There is two plugs on the back of the block.

Couple of things first,
Without a gauge screwed in the head you have no way of knowing what kind of compression you have or don't have. You may of been running on luck.
When you say you cleaned the carb, does that mean rebuilt or removed and sprayed with carb cleaner and reinstalled...
