I consider myself lucky in this case. Had the temperature guage not stayed pegged at 240 after the truck was dead cold I propbably would have started replacing the temperature sending unit first and then likely the guage after that when the sending unit didn't work. And you're right, the no...
I was having issues with my guages. The fuel guage would wildly jerk back and forth across the dial occassionally. Then my temperature guage started to run hot, then when it hit about 220 it started jumping back and forth like someone was flicking it. Once it cooled down it was fine again...
Should the guage be in the green all the time or just when the truck is running? Reason I ask, my Alternator is putting out the correct 28 votls when running. With the truck off, the guage reads in the yellow. When the truck is running, the guage reads in the green by the white mark where it...
The critters around here have a mutated conscious intelligence. probably escapees from a military lab experiment. I had two rats that invaded my garage. Ate through solid plastic trash cans to get to the contents, ate through the rubber door sweep on the bottom of the door to access the...
Ok, now it's war! Critters have gone too far. I checked my air filter yesterday and found all kinds of seat fabric and insulation in it. Little buggers have been going into my seats in the cab through the small round air holes in the wood under the seat and taking out the insulation. Then they...
Got the plug out. Used air ratchet and it came loose without having to heat it or utilize other "special operation tactics." Special thanks to "M816 Someday" for helping me out and getting it loose as well as straightening the dent/fold in my tailgate where someone smashed into it bending it...
When checking the axle fluid lvels, one of the fill plugs won't budge. Tried breaker bar, socket wrench, socket wrench with hammer. It also looks like the square center is starting to round out. Any suggestions?
Is there anyone in the Mt. Airy/Woodbine/Ellicott City/Damascus Maryland area that is going to the Aberdeen Md. event that could transport a set of troop seats to Aberdeen for a member in New Jersey that will be at Aberdeen?
Thanks,
Dan
There are no stupid questions. The only stupid questions are the ones never asked. Welcome aboard! I have found this site invaluable and there are plenty of great people happy to help out.
So if I'm understanding this correctly, the filter is inside the unit itself and the intake hole is supposed to be bare and leads to this internal filter?
I never noticed this before, but there is what appears to be an intake tube on the rear of the air compressor. I'm guessing this is an air intake? It is a hollow metallic tube but there is nothing on the end of it. Is there supposed to be some sort of an air filter on the end of it to prevent...
I should add that when we put everything back together from the pump repair everything was dry. Had also replaced the fuse prior to the pump repair and it was dry then also. This occurred after drving it for a bit after the pump repair. Was gonna replace the 2 amp fuse with a 3 amp and when I...
I pulled the in tank fuel pump because it was running but not pumping. The bottom had fallen off. Repaired the bottom, pumps fine now. New problem arose. I took off the cover to the in-tank fuse to check it and found diesel fuel inside the cover. Why would diesel fuel be inside the cover...
I just want to say thanks to FMJ and Boat Carpenter for the pics posted on this problem and all of the others who commented on a fix. My in tank pump was running but not pumping fuel and after researching this site and reading this I pulled my in tank pump and also found the bottom had fallen...
Eureka! pulled horn button assembly off steering wheel yesterday and the wire inside was badly frayed and grounding out. Replaced wire, added new connectors with heat shrink crimp casings, reconnected ends and voilla, horn works great now! Had some 90w gear oil leak out of the bottom hole where...
I use a 2 quart plastic cranberry juice jug, cut about 1/3 of the top off with an exacto knife. It fits snug on the stack pipe and wind won't blow it off.
Mine started blowing coolant out of the radiator cap. When I checked the overflow tube it had been intentionally plugged shut with body putty. When I cleaned this out I found out why. The overflow tube had completely rusted through at the bottom at the fill neck where they connect. I've...
