Not paying labor. If I can do it my self I do it. Some times even if I dont know how I learn. Thats the advantage of older vehicles. Gunny really isnt used for any type of work and will never see mud or bad trails as long as I own him. I just like old military vehicles. I just want some that I...
What springs are you using on the front. My rears still look good but the fronts are past the flat point. I have checked out some 4 leaf options but they are close to $200 per spring.
Well after doing more research on my end the reason people believe this works is because many times the batteries are not truly dead they just need maintenance. Take the battery from my wifes car for instance. The cells were depleted of electrolyte solution there for it would not hold a charge...
That is why I stated this is not a how to. This is an ongoing personal study with old batteries that I had laying around. As far as the Epson salt portion I used very little 1Tsp to a gallon of distilled water. The desulphator part I would not suggest doing it more than a couple times. I have...
Well after only 48hrs the 8yr old battery is showing alot of promise just checked the charge status on it and it was reading fully charged. Let it sit for an hour and it settled to 12.81v put it under a small load and it dropped to 12.12v. I think after a few more cycles of charging and...
There are several videos about it online. I figured for $20 in materials and some time it was worth a shot. I am in the process of doing the same thing to a battery that is about 8yrs old that was in my wifes car. Its cells were almost empty and the voltage before the process started was only...
Lead Acid Battery Restoration (Experiment)
So a couple of years ago I bought a large D8 1000CCA battery for Gunny. This was when I was having alot of Gen2 issues. After about a year of being drained and charged I couldn't get it to hold a charge again. Well I pulled it out and put it on the...
Just pick it up and follow the instructions for the mod. It will replace the starter relay all together. Afterwards this problem is very unlikely to happen again.
14067717 this should be the GM part number. Good luck I only found a couple online and I hope its the whole bracket and not just the bolt. We are talking $30 to $50. Best of luck.
Thats why as soon as I found this forum after getting Gunny I went ahead and did the dog head mod. I have seen some horror stories on here about starter run on. I figured $20 now could save me hundreds in the future.
Sounds like a classic case of relay failure to me. Search dog head mod in the forum search and you will see what needs to be done to keep it from happening again.
Do you already have one of these? How strong are the magnets? I am looking for something that it actually takes a little force to get off after its stuck on.
