The safest way is to install an exhaust temperature probe and gauge. Otherwise you have little idea how close to meltdown you are running your engine.
Unloaded on flat ground you might be ok but on long grades high exhaust temps can come up fairly quickly when the fuel is turned up.
If you do...
....I had to have lunch at this place. :-)
Almost like something attracted me to it!

I'd think it is brake or clutch pedal return spring:

I think the e-brake spring is shorter.
No, not welded on. You can grab the flat sides with a wrench and gently (or not so gently) work it loose and then screw it out.
It is pipe thread on one side and tube on the other. 3/8 if I am not mistaken (but no guarantees!).
It is unlikely - but possible - that you can match something up at...
A freshly filled radiator/coolant system will bubble and burp air but will eventually settle down. In the process, it may also "blow off" some excess coolant. There is no coolant expansion tank. My Deuce wants its coolant level to sit just below the bend in the filler neck. When fill it over...

I have heard of mud boggers "welding the sprag" but at least in this post here, welding is strongly discouraged: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/sprag-substitutes.1093/
The reason is that the sprag clutch is an overrun clutch, and the function depends on different rotation speed between...
I mentioned that before....scrapyard near me has two MLVW without beds sitting around. They have been picked at but are substantially complete. The hoarder in me would have dragged them home already but the wife suggested I would then have to live in them and they are simply not that roomy...
I think it is designed to interfere with the engine stop handle. My ACC switch effectively blocks the STOP pullout from being operated until the ACC switch is turned off. I think that stopping the engine and accidentally leaving the ACC swith in the ON position was the cause of a great many...
I have my US origin M35A2 registered in Ontario. Ontario is similar to other heavy-collector-vehicle-unfriendly states in the US in that it sees your M109A4 as a vehicle that
- has never before been registered in Canada, therefore needs to be emissions tested to the current standards (no...
The light switch contains a self resetting circuit breaker. That is the clicking. You have a short somewhere. Start at the headlights...a wire chafed through and shorting to sheet metal...

The Canadian M35A2 licence built trucks (with a series of improvements, including rear suspension, massive Allison auto box, Ross power steering, but still no dual brakes) that you can buy these days are all major projects as far as I have seen. Expect significant rust as well as missing parts...
Just from reading this, two things stand out:
- the leak occurred repeatedly, despite taking steps to "do the job right" (good seal, ensuring size and fit, speedy sleeve to be sure)
- the indicated loss of crankcase oil on the dipstick does not seem to match the observed volume of continuous...
