well i took the cowl off so i could get to the DCVR and saw something new to me. the DCVR looked like a military unit but it had a few extras hanging off of it. i disconnected it and it had p pretty gold label that said southern automotive on it. so the DCVR must have been an aftermarket. i...
let the wife get cold and hungry during an outage because there isn't enough fuel for the generator. then a fuel tank or drum will look much better to her. i am kidding you know! right?
i think this must be the case. after heating and then starting the engine the batteries are basically accepting a charge and then after a minute the voltage rises.
Thanks for the discussion
nope nothing else hooked up to the battery. the only anomaly would be the batteries are both AGM type. i will pull the shroud and check connections first but i think i have one of triple jims DCVR setting in the spares cabinet so i may just switch it out. just thought it kind of strange that...
had a little ice storm this week and had to get the 002A out of the shed. it has been running perfect in every way until now when i start it up and check the battery charge all is fine at 26.2 volts for about 10 min then it creeps up to 33 volts. could this be a ground issue? or is the DC VR...
i bought a brand spankin new post driver with a yanmar diesel engine that had exactly double the amount of oil in the crank case. also the hose clamps on the radiator hoses were all loose. i figured the employee went home for the night of end of shift and the next day or shift the process was...
now is a great time to convert to a spin on. you wont regret it. and get a voltage regulator from tripplejim and just fix her up right and it will always be there for you.
i will testify to Tripplejim's voltage regulator. i have them on all of my MEP 002A and 003A gens. remember that the generator gets i't excitation from the 24 volt DC system so it is pretty important to have it working. also Jims regulators can be run without batteries. the spin on kit is...
i have a few of the 015 ac generators. i am so far running on the original float without any problems but i don't have ethanol in my area. great little sets for small applications.
i use a manual transfer switch. works real good and no chance of backfeeding. my local linemen really appreciate it. before that or somewhere else i pull the meter.
if the fittings are the type with a pressed on crimp sleeve i just take a file and cut the sleeve off of the old fitting remove the hose and put a clamp on the new hose.
look at the fitting and you will notice that the center part unscrews from the outside. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzYHLqmXFgc
this vid is for hydraulic hose but the procedure is the same.
