    Older axles. on your deuce.

Same here... (And yes, older axles only had that vent, in the center of the pass.-side inspection plate.)

    Problems with rear axle alignment

I'd say bad axle housing.... Even if your's is a Deuce - not a M54, the issue (and solution) could be the same as described in this thread.... Sorry to tell you: the axle housing and spindles are one-piece, so the correct solution would be replacing the entire axle - if bent. I have...

    Crane info

Sorry Dave, that's not the crane in question. We are looking at a model with 4 boom sections, not 3. Most likely from a PLS-truck... could be a M1074 G.

24 Bolt Goodyear MT/Rs runflat question about balancing beads

Working with plenty of running water (like from a garden hose) and a stiff brush it shouldn't be a problem eliminating even the last trace of that grease. (Done it, dozens of times.) But then the runflat better be replaced by a (internal) beadlock. Or modify the original runflat inserts, shown...

    How am I not dead?

:ditto: The outer diameter of the run-flat insert is 23" and the inner tire diameter, about 33". With no air at all that tire would sit at least four inches lower than normal. That is much more than "a little low"... :-? G.

    Crane info

That's correct: Material Handling Crane All the specs and parts of these cranes are included in the HEMTT TM's, some of them here...

    Pto rpm?

I know, it's a shame... In all these years I have posted links to hundreds of threads and posts. Too many went dead and it will take me a good while to find the original threads again. Here is the one of the link you quoted; PTO Speed... G.

    Testing of the forum upgrade

It actually sounded kind of dangerous to me. Tried to make sense of all this: you took a nap… hit several bumps along the way… which caused it (the truck?)… to shut down and not restart… you then adjusted the clutch (?) … to go up X.X.2 release level… then a big boom and it (re)started just...

2016 Ga Military Vehicle Rally buy/sell/trade thread

Sounds good. Would you have a way to deliver to the Rally, or even bring it personally?

2016 Ga Military Vehicle Rally buy/sell/trade thread

I'm interested! Also looking for a M939 dash board, with instrument panel, any color. May have instruments/switches installed or not. G.

Combat wheels, FMTV wheels, HEMTT wheels

Maybe , yes. See post #4: the HEMTT-wheels have two inches less backspace than the most common (steel) MRAP wheels, so the tire moves further out, not in. Not sure about the specs of your particular aluminum wheels, but they might not be that much different. You can always measure and compare...

    Exhaust Stud Size?

I can confirm the dimensions listed in post #2: longer threaded end (nut) is 3/8"-16; shorter end is M10×1.5 G.

    M35 Power steering choices

FWIW, actually the truck in question would be a M51A2 (M39 series 5ton Multifuel). (3rd picture, to the right, shows the secondary and final fuel filters, typical for the MF)

    Eaton fuller 8LL?

Thanks, Rusty. Guess I'd better add a PDF-version then...? (actually I always upload them as PNG but its the server that then converts it to a blurry, low res. jpg)

    Eaton fuller 8LL?

Assuming you mean measured from the front face of clutch housing... that is 8.8 inches. G. Edit, to add: basic dimensions, PDF

    51 Reo rear axle problems......any ideas ?

Gimpy, you may be right: it's an early Deuce... and if it still has the stock T-case, the banging noise may actually come from a slipping sprag clutch, not from the fwd rear axle. Steward, you said the rear DSs are turning... What about the front DS? Still won't hurt draining the oil on that...

    51 Reo rear axle problems......any ideas ?

Welcome to SteelSoldiers! (I have moved your thread to the Deuce-section) Sounds like you lost the spider gears and related parts, inside the differential. If so, you will find broken teeth and chips, after pulling the drain plug. See this post with pics... G.
