Chris will there be some sort of "centering" bar (like a panhard) in the rear of the bed? Any side-to-side movement could put enormous strain on the front hinge.
I have an oil leak on the fuel governor, and I can't find any parts break down further than what I have here (TM 9-2320-365-24P) page 88. There is a clamp (part number 29 on this diagram) that holds the offending part in.

If you are driving a stock 1009 at highway speeds it's not over wound. Add insulation to the hood, it will make a huge difference in your perception. Truck is fine at 70-75 all day long. Yes I have one. Yes I drive it. Yes I drive it long miles at those speeds.
They had some lined up at Ft Bragg, and when I looked at them I didn't see anything in the 30 seconds I had, but the DLA rep stated that they had "non repairable" cracks in the main frame
