    28MT Starter

The Taiwan 28MT came with a test sheet, 5.23 kW is over 7 horse power. Now to get a round tuit..

M1007 - CUCV Suburban Clone Build Thread

To make things more difficult, the DB2 injection pump base timing varies with injected quantity as IQ has the end of injection timing physically set. The start of injection varies with IQ, a longer stroke causes the rollers to contact the cams sooner. The centrifugal advance is set by transfer...

Master shut off not a master

Watch the sign on your digital volt meter. It is possible to wire a 12 volt cigarette lighter receptacle to the back battery using 12 volts negative and 24 volts positive. This makes the negative 12 volts above ground. Works fine but can cause digital meter confusion. That negative sign is...

the question about fuel adjustment screw of cucv 6.2 diesel engine

Turbo or not, 3000 RPM is fine. CUCVs have no intake silencer so it sounds rough, the intake manifold is past its prime so noise is high. What kills the engine is torsional vibration from age hardened dampers. All engines suffer this malady, diesels the most. The worst regime is idle speed...

Are these two parts missing from your axle?

This should be an update in the TM. Check your revision date in the front of the TM.

Never saw pioneer tool set as part of the BII for any CUCV.

    28MT Starter

Solenoid coils can store a bit of electrical energy, when they are deenergized, this manifests as a spark when the magnetic field decays. Most solenoids have a shunt diode to prevent damage to contacts. If the diode were missing or installed incorrectly, the voltage spike can break down...

    28MT Starter

The slow ship from China arrived, I have a new 28MT for under $100. Now to install it. Yes, I have the bracket. Guess I should order the 27MT overhaul parts now?

    Battery charger install question

If the charger is marine rated, most likely it is fine for two 12 volt batteries in series. Higher power trolling motors are 24 volt. You can always read customer comments on Amazon, along with the Q&A, they offer loads of info.

    Battery charger install question

Most dual battery chargers are isolated. But the only way to tell is to hook it up and measure both voltage and resistance between the two banks when connected to isolated batteries. Should be no voltage and open circuit when charging.

No power to white wire on exciter gen 1

Replacement connectors for this part (internal 27SI regulator) are often color coded red and white. I bought one to make an alternator test rig..bypassing all the dash light, relay and switch. I dislike tracing faults and really dislike removing perfectly good alternators.

the question about fuel adjustment screw of cucv 6.2 diesel engine

The 6.2 is perfectly happy turning 3600 RPM as long as the harmonic damper is not age hardened and the air filter isn't clogged. The poor volumetric efficiency and resulting high BSFC are the only reasons to avoid this speed range.

the question about fuel adjustment screw of cucv 6.2 diesel engine

Injection quantity is based on throttle pedal position until engine speed nears 3600 RPM. If the engine is at idle and you floor it, the amount of diesel injected on each cylinder cycle goes from 10 to 55 micrometers, nearly instantly. The reason for the RPM cut out is engine protection. The...

    How to Jump Start CUCV

CUCVs, like all other military equipment, have jump starting equipment. Called the NATO port, it is a coaxial connection I the upper right of the grill. You need another running piece of equipment with a set of NATO cables. CUCVs can also use regular jumper cables. Just connect correctly. If...

Batteries charged, but no panel lights or starter

The starter is already directly connected to the batteries, it receives the 24 volt signal to turn on when the metal can relay is energized. This relay is triggered by a 12 volt signal from the ignition switch. All other circuits are 12 volt. The main 12 volt supply is through the terminal...

    Electrical system overview

The diodes are there to block reverse current, not for radio noise suppression. Capacitors are used for radio noise suppression.

the question about fuel adjustment screw of cucv 6.2 diesel engine

While the throttle pedal indeed varies the injected quantity, normally from 4 to 52 cubic millimeters, the high limit is set by the screw you mentioned. There are two plungers which pump this injected quantity, the length of the stroke is the upper limit. When the screw is tightened, it...

    255 85 16's

During the Valentines Day weekend blizzard, these tires paid off. 4WD was only needed for steep hills..glare ice was a problem but that is a tire compound issue, not tread. For every other purpose, the rubber is perfect. Fantastic wet traction for example. I only need to air down on sand...
