    WA registration issues

Can't say I'm surprised here, my state seems to be outrageous when it comes to getting plates for anything military related... Heres a quick backstory, Bought this truck with maryland title, title has nothing regarding model, just 1986 chevy. The WA DoL looked it up and found it to be a D30 by...

Gm nv4500, what engines did they come with?

I can't seem to fine a straight answer with Google, so I'll ask here. What engines did GM give the option of having an nv4500 behind? I saw that the 6.5 in the 90s had it, but what gas engines?

    GEP 6.5NA replacement

I definitely didn't get a cucv to go fast. I bought as a project to make a reliable all mechanical vehicle. I know the 6.2 had its head cracking issues, were those solely limited to overheating? I suppose a radiator upgrade couldn't hurt either in addition to a 180 thermostat.

    GEP 6.5NA replacement

Yeah that's my plan, na, all mechanical engine. GEP block would just add life to the truck. 6.2 is great and all, and I'll be keeping it for a while, but the base design flaws aren't very reassuring. I'll be doing cooling upgrades and such to keep it working well Unfortunately even though my...

    GEP 6.5NA replacement

Yeah I was comparing GEP 6.5 to more modern engines that can go 400k+ without opening them up. I saw somewhere that the 6.2s need to be opened up around 250k, so I would assume a GEP could go a lot longer than that?

    GEP 6.5NA replacement

GEP 6.5NA replacement? I was thinking about dropping in a GEP 6.5NA in place of my current 6.2. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with super high mileage gep engines and if they lasted significantly longer than thier GM counterparts? This will probably be down the road a bit because...

    6.2 cranking times

Vehicle only has 14k miles on it. I would guess my situation is probably a combination of some cheap, weaker batteries (brand new, just not up to spec), and a starter that's been abused by the previous owner.

    6.2 cranking times

I have the 60g and my truck came without the resistor block. But I also have some less than adequate batteries. Only 650cca a piece.

    6.2 cranking times

Makes sense. My current starter has been through a good period of mistreatment.

    6.2 cranking times

I'm not sure why this is, but my old humvee 6.2 engine would only take a bump of the key on an average temperature day to fire right up. But my cucv 6.2 takes a solid 1-1.5 seconds and then fires up. Its a small difference, I know, but it got me interested in why there would be a difference...

    Is this a 12v or 24v starter?

I'm just trying to save a buck. Not having to buy a whole other starter would be great. Looking to get a 12v starter for my eventual 12v conversion. It would be counter productive if I spent more than the starters worth having someone tear it down or rebuild it.

    Is this a 12v or 24v starter?

So maybe someone just slapped a 12v sticker on my starter? Any way to test and see if its 24 or 12? pinion speed test maybe?

    Is this a 12v or 24v starter?

So the previous owner of my truck apparently tried to have a new starter put in, didn't work or something and so I have this extra starter laying around. The only identification it has is two stickers. One says 12v and the other 24v. Can anyone ID this thing?

    Electrical harness identification

Interesting, the last owner I saw moved the starter relay up to the firewall and used some generic relay. And my voltmeter doesn't work.

    M1028 Dana 70hd pinion yoke

Got a pulley puller and it came off fine. I don't know what size u joint I have. I want to reuse the one currently install in the driveshaft, it just needs new hearing caps. I can go into auto parts stores all day long, but unless I have a part number they won't help me. Did the 70hd on...

    Electrical harness identification

Previous owner removed the ste ice plug from the cab, so I'm not sure if the entire diagnostics harness is still there or not. Are those blocks what used to attached to the diagnostics plug?

    M1028 Dana 70hd pinion yoke

I got the nut off with pipe wrench and breaker bar w/ pipe extension. Took nearly 1200 ft/lbs to break the nut loose. Washer came off with it. My next problem is the pinion yoke is stuck on pretty good. Tried pulling it off from the front with a rachet straps, tried hammering from the rear...

    Crank, no start, white smoke.

I was able to source a FM100 base from my local napa, so I'll just replace the whole assembly with a better design. Square filters shouldn't exist.

    Crank, no start, white smoke.

I got fuel pressure through the filter and got it fired up for 5 seconds at a time now. I'm sure it just needs more bleeding, but the fuel filter base is leaking internally. The filter itself is full of fuel, but the dripping is coming straight off the base of the filter. Not sure why it's doing...
