So my 6.2 cranks but doesn't start.
All glow plugs have replaced with ac Delco 60g. I checked voltage at the plugs and they are getting 12v.
I checked the pink wire on the IP and it's getting 12v, I also sanded the tab down a bit for better contact.
Fuel gauge read 1/2 tank, but I put 5...
Yeah, registration is in the mail right now, so they had to charge me. Rental trailer would have been cheaper, but theres no where around me that rents one big enough.
Called AAA, 4 times, and escorted the tow truck on base. Would not recommend, as AAA has basically disowned my membership and is charging me for every tow, still cheaper than a private tow truck company though.
Turns out the starter bolt was loose and caused a misalignment. Tightened it and the pinion gear popped back.
Cranks fine now, but itll only run on ether. Definitely have a fuel delivery problem.
On a side note AAA has refused to tow me now.
It's not like I want to do this fix in a parking lot. I've called around to friends and rental companies trying to find a trailer, dolly, something that could work. All of them refused. I asked the base police if I could flat tow the truck not even a mile to the shop and they said no.
I'm just...
I got the driveshaft out. Dropped the torque converter cover and now I see that it does have some wear but the teeth are intact. Possible wrong starter?
Honestly the whole driveshaft needs replacing anyway.
I have a cheap harbor freight reciprocating saw, with a carbide blade. So I'm just cutting through the bolt.
Getting towed to the auto shop is problematic cause the base police aren't too keen on moving the vehicle.
Yeah I found a guys write up on the flywheel replacement, I have the bolts and I've rigged up something to support the t-case and tranny, so I think I'm good there.
Any local auto parts shops carry those sockets?
I'd be great not to have to wait 3 weeks to get this truck running.
Also disassembling the u joint seems a bit troublesome, they have rust-welded together pretty much.
I tried undoing on bolt and it immediately stripped the head. The other three are intact.
Unfortunately I don't have anything to tow it with or anywhere to tow it to. Most places I've talked to won't touch it, and if they do they'll either break something or charge me thousands.
Went to take out the rear driveshaft to do my flywheel replacement, but the u joint bolts immediately stripped themselves.
Truck doesn't run and I have no way of towing it anywhere. I am in a parking lot with only a Cresent toolkit.
It's kind of annoying that there aren't u joint bolts on the...
Got it from a private seller who said he got it from Fort Meade, MD. Im stationed here now, so I think its cool to have the truck back to its (theoretically) home.
