Resolved—- I just sheared off my cab lift piston mount!

You're making it more difficult than it needs to be. But you do you. The spring mount wraps around the frame rail. It's not going anywhere. And not likely to move much.

Resolved—- I just sheared off my cab lift piston mount!

Mount is on the nut side. Leave the bolts in place and pull the mount off. I would take the weight off it with a jack but not lift the tire off the ground so it's not hanging from the spring just to keep the bolts from shifting and potentially making it hard to remove/install the bracket.

Air conditioner install using Waterloo parts

Put bolts back in. The vibration is taken up by the silicone couplers at either end of the charge pipe.

Resolved—- I just sheared off my cab lift piston mount!

Correct - skid plate is an integral component of the lift ram mount.

    Expedition engine?

S280 is smaller than the M1079. M1079 Van is 8" wider, and 6" longer on the interior.

    Expedition engine?

We always just tied them down with chain and ratcheting load binders or turnbuckles. As to the stress cracking - I'm going to need to see a cracked FMTV frame and what accomplished it to believe that. Maybe if grossly overloaded past their "off-road" rating. I could see problems with an LMTV...

Blown tire need pneumatic bottle jack suggestion

The problem is - they may be expired because they didn't get used and exercised. Many people buy "100%" tread tires from surplus that are "only" 5 or 6 years old not realizing they are unfit for use because they sat unused on a shelf, on a spare tire carrier, or even on a truck at a guard or...

Blown tire need pneumatic bottle jack suggestion

What is "fairly new" ? Anything more than 10 years old is trash. And if you want decent life out of them you should really shoot for no more than 3-4 years old. Also most of the surplus stuff is flat spotted garbage since it's been on a spare tire carrier it's whole life or on a truck that sat...

    Expedition engine?

The S280 shelter is designed to be chained down to a military truck - deuce, 5 ton, LMTV, FMTV, etc: https://tonymoradian.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/S280CG.pdf And for the military this is not an "occasional" mating. I was motorpool and my sergeant wanted a field office that wasn't a tent...

Blown tire need pneumatic bottle jack suggestion

This is the BII jack for the FMTV: https://www.ebay.com/itm/275245160578 It has the range to lift the tire off the ground without a bunch of cribbing. You should use a spreader plate: https://www.amazon.com/AME-14464-Titan-Non-Skid-Surface/dp/B004HL25C4 The 12 ton US Jack is a high range...

    M1078 AC install

What's the compelling reason for locating the compressor on the other side of the engine? The hose connections for the evaporator and condenser are on the driver's side. Belt wrap on the pulley looks a little light. Probably not an issue. Just observations. I'm sure it will work fine.

    Expedition engine?

First off they aren't straight. Nor is this a fixed driven object. Not to mention they changed this to the design already used by the 6x6 precisely because it was problematic and the 6x6 was not. Since the change they have been running the same design for 20 years and the incidence of u-joint...

    Expedition engine?

The early 3126 ECM had problems with an on board power source that, once depleted, would render the ECM inoperable. Most of these ECM's are off the road having already been swapped out. The later ECM's and the C7 ECM have a power source for date/time settings so they can time stamp event log...

Air conditioner install using Waterloo parts

Under the cab pivot since it attaches forward of it to the evaporator.

Air conditioner install using Waterloo parts

I didn't add any oil - I used what the (sealed) compressor came with and am running 3.75 lbs of R134. Things that run to the cab and have to tilt with the cab should be routed under the cab hinge with all the factory air lines.

    Expedition engine?

TM's are available. Just not easily downloaded. I really haven't had any issues with obtaining parts. Things like the 260A alternator (if equipped), high pinion differential, slide out battery tray, etc are really nice features. I have no regrets AT ALL owning a 2008 M1079 A1R. As you pointed...

    Expedition engine?

C7. More power to drive the ECO hubs. Better transmission and transmission control. If it's a later model truck it will have the high pinion rear diff also - better ground clearance and fewer driveline problems. Diagnostic capabilities, less wiring from engine to cab, and of course the whole...

That's the correct belt. And I can assure you that even the stock military versions require that you loosen the compressor mounting bolts to get the belt on and off. Just the way they designed it.

Air conditioner install using Waterloo parts

I had to extend the wires for the trinary switch based on how I routed my wiring. Not a huge deal.
