ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

They are all over ebay. Just search the NSN. 2520-00-388-4197 Here's a good one for a full set: https://www.ebay.com/itm/354319627676 Looks like that auction doesn't include the bolts but you can clean and re-use. Just use a dab of blue locktite. Torque to 30 Ft/lbs. Retail from the online...

    Pressure at gladhands?

I keep a 50' glad hand hose on my truck. With a tire inflator and impact. Works great. I also keep a blow gun on hand - great for blowing the dog hair out of my cab, cleaning my HVAC filter panel (AC console has recirc filter), and blowing the dust out of my habitat, etc. I have run a 3M DA...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Yep. Have that same tool. Works GREAT. Just did all my u-joints with genuine Meritor R-279X's (also made in Singapore like the originals).

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

2008 tires are garbage. One of my 2008 Goodyears let go on the freeway last year. Sidewall failure. Don't attempt it. Get new tires before you drive it. The tire in your picture of the driveline looks like hell. The driveline rust doesn't concern me more than the tires. Probably poorly prepped...

Who's running dynamic tire balancing beads?

It does but unless you have a leaking tire or are using it all the time, there's not much air exchange. For most of us the tires stay in highway mode 98% of the time.

Who's running dynamic tire balancing beads?

Not going to happen in a mostly sealed tire. The air inside the tire can only hold so much water vapor and once it's saturated to it's dew point evaporation stops. There is some exchange over time as you inflate and deflate but it's not going to be much.

    CTIS

I haven't run across a PCU that didn't need rebuilding yet. You can get new spool valves and o-rings from a couple different vendors. First time I powered mine up it started venting under the dash and wouldn't stop. And my truck is a 2008.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

They are not. He is incorrect. I have done extensive research into every engine part number that could possibly be different (cylinder head, pistons, camshaft, injectors, turbo, etc) and they all come back the same except for the turbocharger and deeper investigation confirmed it was the same...

    Found my wiring issue

Yep. Cold solder joint here. $230,000 in tax dollars plus shipping to Kuwait and back only to sell it for 10% of it's cost and probably half that after Ritchie Bro's takes their cut at auction..... I do love when uncle sugar is tired of his new toys after Christmas morning..... 9 months to find...

Who's running dynamic tire balancing beads?

You mix it with water - 25% water to 75% EG is enough.... Freezing point is about negative 50 degrees F or lower.

    CTIS

I can't recall..... It may after a period of time or after it sees enough vehicle speed for enough elapsed time. I just figured it's a good first check since the controller won't really do anything till it sees enough system pressure so no sense messing with the wiring till you determine that...

    CTIS

My truck had an incorrectly set unloader and the CTIS controller reported a pressure switch malfunction. My switch was fine the system just wasn't reaching the pressure set point. Controller can only assume the switch is bad

    CTIS

Lets start with basics. First - lets assume (I know.... but for the sake of some simple checks) that someone screwed with the wiring to try to hookup to the unit and communicate because A0 trucks don't have coms ports - they are supposed to use a breakout cable that's never around when you need...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

If 40 HP and 56 Ft/lbs breaks a transmission on a truck that is 1/4 of the weight of an A1P2 M1089 wrecker fully loaded then it was going to break anyway. The transmission is grossly underrated in this application for civilian uses. And everyone should be much more concerned about the transfer...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Yes it will be the 275/860 map. Even the A1P2 is still being delivered with that spec engine. All the parts are the same as I stated - with the exception of the water cooled turbo CHRA. This can be added if you like but changes nothing about how the engine or turbo functions. It's there for...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I was put in touch with a CAT technician through one of their corporate dealership training managers. The technician in question worked at our local power products and equipment dealer and used my C7 military serial number to request ratings from CAT and was told in no uncertain terms by his...

LMTV/Brazos/Titan XD4400… is it right for me?

Yep. And that's why the military van (M1079) and expansible van (M1087) models are so desirable. Not to mention they cost more empty when new (my 2008 M1079A1R was $325k new adjusted for inflation - and that's a completely empty box) than many of these civilian expedition rigs cost fully...

Who's running dynamic tire balancing beads?

Immediately after I added it I did get some that wanted to come back out the valve stem but once it went down into the tire proper past the bead locks I haven't had any signs of it. Not sure exactly how that would be possible. I have run my truck through a full cycle from sand to highway with it...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Not only is the 370/931 tune not in CAT ET, it's also not available from CAT. The serial prefix on the military supplied C7's is locked down to only it's original rating from caterpillar so that even a CAT dealer cannot flash it to any other rating (either up or down). Flashing the ECM to...

Who's running dynamic tire balancing beads?

I found that a half gallon of anti-freeze in each tire worked well for me. I tried one quart (32oz) and that wasn't sufficient. I don't have any issue with the CTIS once the anti-freeze worked it's way past the bead lock. I had my rims powder coated and mounted the new tires myself. The balance...
