Technically you do need an air brake endorsement but it is usually not enforced if the GVW is under 26,000 lbs.
A 5 ton has a GVW over 30,000 lbs so a class B CDL is required unless your state specifically exempts non commercial vehicles.
With this type of tow bar the towed vehicle will need brakes even at 15 mph or it could hit the towing vehicle when stopping.
You could mount the socket to a piece of channel that would fit over the front bumper and use plates to clamp it the the front bumper as close to the frame as possible...

The air cans have a rubber diaphragm inside of them that can tear and cause a leak.
Be very careful with air cans. The maxi cans have a large spring inside of them that is under tension and should not be taken apart.
Do not drive it until you find the leak.
If you attempt to drive it the compressor may not be able to keep up with the leak causing the emergency brakes to apply and eventually the spring brakes. Picture a panic stop without any input from the driver.

You are correct the bed length is 20 feet so the only modification would be adding the twist locks to the bed.
The bed height is just under 5 feet tall so it would be a tall truck but if you use a 8 foot tall container it would be just under 13 feet
