Drove back home from Disney (8 hrs) and immediately started making my new to me m998 mine. Drained and swapped all fluids except tranny and hubs. Will do hubs tomorrow. Tranny is just too fresh looking. Also took off weathered cargo cover, never to be put back on.

I want to vent my exhaust out and away from the little shelter i will be building over it. It will not be fully enclosed however i would still not want the hot gas going directly into the cover. Is there a known source of supply for the correct pipe?

Yea, you may suffer from the MV addiction so often spoken of here. Maybe we need to get a SS shrink on board. But I like your thought process.

Maybe i can use that and say "My next one will be CAMO!!" Gotta have two right?? I was ok with going camo until i got looking at the tan inside the engine compartment and saw most of that was tan also. that will turn into work in a hurry. Was expecting it to all be black in there.
Saraland Al GP Lot. Jay and Mike!!!
Both of the guys running the GP lot in Saraland,Al are awesome and very helpful. I appreciate them and look forward to dealing with them again.
Went last week to pick up a Generator and an A/C in Albany. Was speaking and texting Eric prior to arrival and even had contact late evening/night. Great guy and the other guys were great also.
Good Job!!!
I got my M998 Home today. No idea how to post a pic when not using the Mobile app. Tan, two door. Will be making it a 4 door. My only real question is wether to keep it tan or go camo. Painted two deuces and a 5 ton so not worried about the work, just trying to decide on color. It is a good...
I am seeing a lot of 3 wire plugs. And someone posted with a pic of a three wire. If I went with a three wire plug, what line is being lost? I know it has to have two hot going to two different terminals, so is the neutral being lost? Forgive my ignorance.
So is this pretty much what will fix it besides the ground rod, bonding strap, and power cable?

My cable is 10 AWG 300v. So step it up to be safe? It is what i had when i had a different portable generator being used to run the house but i can understand using larger wirew due to possibly running more loads at a time now.

I did not know that nor ever heard of that. So the ground it is getting via the plug mounted on my house is sufficient grounding? I did not get to ground mine anyway. I expended myself taking generator off the trailer.
According to the TM, it looks like Terminal L2 is not used unless it is 3ph power. The pics are what i have and i need to move the lead from L2 to L3 and the rest is good to go. Please take a look and tell me what you think. I just got it off trailer and set up today. The last pic is my use of...
McReddy, Ya know, after driving those things thousands of miles you would think that I would have remembered that they will cycle like that. I am sure that is what is going on, if not I will let you know. Been about 20 years since I have messed with a M998, and I am really glad I have one now.
I am not located near my HMMWV right now, but I wanted to go ahead and ask this question so I can get a game plan. It is new to me, and at idle, it will do some surging. The voltmeter will go down to low yellow, and you can hear it in the engine. This will continue every few seconds unless you...
