    sudden oversupply of m923's ??

The problem with M939 series trucks is parts availability. I am not saying that parts are unavailable, but the surplus guys generally don't have stocks of parts like they do for the M44, M39 and M809 series trucks. This could change., As they get rid of the trucks, they inevitably will get...

    Allison Transmission in M923A1

The different spring colors correspond to how hard or soft the transmission will shift. I had a truck that was downshifting hard from 2nd to 1st and it was not normal, so they swapped out the spring with another and it corrected the problem.

    Who am I?

I think what PATRACY is saying is that his qualifications lay in his experience administering sites such as this, combined with his knowledge of the hobby, and not so much about his post count. Makes sense to me. Welcome and congrats.

    Allison Transmission in M923A1

You should not have to pull a transmission to set the shift points, unless I missed something in this thread. They should be able to adjust the shift points with the transmission in the truck.

    M923a1 transmission fluid?

I think it is a mathematical type thing. Talk to the Allison techs, but I believe I was told that they can only get like 80% of the fluid out when they drain it. So, if that is correct (adjust the percentage if my quote is wrong), after you change it, 80% is DexIII and 20% is still 10W. So...

    Allison Transmission in M923A1

Yes, they could not get it all out. There is so much fluid in the torque convertor that they really only remove 80% or so of the fluid.

    101a2 Landing Leg Issue

You could probably fix it...I am assuming...although I don't know what could be wrong. If you need to replace it, check with CUCVFAN in MD. He had some NOS crank up landing legs the last time It talked with him.

    Allison Transmission in M923A1

Jeff, I can't rememer what the Allison dealer near me charged to service the transmission (fluid flush and filter) and check the shift points, but I recall thinking that it was not as much as I thought it would be. If you want to truly rid your truck of the 10W oil, you will have to change the...

    Allison Transmission in M923A1

It IS and it IS NOT normal. I say it IS normal because I have had other M939 series trucks that shifted like this. I say it IS NOT normal because they are not supposed to shift like that. You should take it to an Allison dealer to have them check the shift points. You could also have a bad...

M149A2 water tank trailer/ for fuel

These responses are great, especially WRECKERMAN's. Another thing to consider is the cost of the M149A2. They generally bring really good money. I'm talking over a grand if they are as clean as the one in the pic. I paid $1100 for mine and I've seen them go as high as $2K at auction. I bet...

    How to tell actual mileage

In the end, no matter what, you are only left with an educated guess. The CUCVs are 25 years or so old and could have a lot of mileage on them...or they could have sat unused. Mileage does not concern me. I am only concerned with overall running and physical condition and tend to ignore the...

    M816 equipment storage?

I have frequently seen the tow bar simply laid out on the back deck on the side by the boom operator's controls. I am not sure if this is the "standard" storage location or not, but I've seen the tow bar there on several trucks.

    new M656 owner second impressions

Stuart, thanks for the update. I did not even know about the auction and never would have linked it to SANGAMON.

    Trailers Ft Meade

It is too bad that you need to come all the way to Meade. About a year or so ago, over 200 M101A2s came out of Ft. Drum and the prices were staying low. I wanted to grab two, but I had just bought my M101A3. Maybe, more will come up there. No guarantee of that, though. If you see the right...

    Trailers Ft Meade

I paid $600 for an M101A3 that had just been painted with new fiberglass racks, metal bows, and a 3-color cargo cover at Lejeune about a year or so ago. I was happy to get it for that price and I still am.

    931 Brakes Locked at GL

Bite the bullet and hire a wrecker to load the truck(s) on a step deck trailer. It costs about $300-700 depending upon your location and the amount of time the wrecker will be there.

    m923 vs. m923a1

None of the M939 series trucks came with ABS, not even the M939A2s. HALFTRACK has an M925A2 to prove it and I have had other A2s without ABS. There was an MWO for ABS that was to be applied to all M939 series trucks, but some trucks must have slipped by for whatever reason because I have gotten...

M923's and M925's, how much are they going for now?

I have an M923 with a brand new NHC250 that got 10 MPG driving back from SC to MD. The motor, and the running gear for that matter, are new so I think that had something to do with it. I have seen 6-8 MPG in various periodicals over the years. I am not sure what is meant by "hard shifts."...

First relaxed drive of the M923

Whoops! Sorry 'bout that. It definitely is a 250. I just was typing too quickly and should have proofread my post.

    top speed m51 dump truck

To echo what VTDEUCEDRIVER said, I had an M543A2 with the direct drive transmission (no overdrive) and I was only able to go about 46 mph without really stressing the truck. The direct drive transmission leads to slower road speeds, but I like it better than the overdrive transmission as I...
