    M923a2

Mechanical popping racket? Are you confusing it with the CAT 7155 transmission? I own six M939 series trucks and have owned others. I've literally put thousands of miles on them and I never noticed any particularly wierd sounds. This would be especially apparent in the A2s since they are so...

10/8/11 - Breakfast in Eldersburg, Maryland

I have been to one of these get togethers and it was really good...kind of like a mini swap meet with guys getting together later to swap parts. I may try to make it in October. Robert, I'll let you know for sure beforehand.

Some info on Cat 7155 Trans

The CAT dealer in Elkridge, MD and, I believe, Upper Marlboro, MD know this transmission. The former I know to be fact and the latter I believe is what Jim told me this evening on the phone. I am sure Jim will confirm this.

Columbia SC to Northern VA Need M35A3 Moved

Don, I have an M925 near Columbia. Perhaps, we can split a load coming north. A friend (fellow SteelSoldier) got two M818s delivered to Aberdeen from Columbia and it cost him about $1,200 as a point of reference.

what are the new model 1400 tires

If you are going to be driving mainly on the road, I'd stick with the Goodyear AT-2A. After several thousand miles that I've put on both the Michelin XLs and the Goodyears, I think the Goodyears wear better. I prefer the look of the XLs (and like the XZLs even better), but you'll get more...

    M35A3 CTIS Hub Seal Retainer

Great thread. Next to Terry McClanahan, Joe Czarnik (GIJOECZAR) is also about as knowledgeable as anyone on the M35A3s. Plus, he's a h*** of a nice guy. I suggest PMing him if anyone has questions about the A3s.

need new drivers window on m35a3

That definitely is an option. I have done that before. But, the frame might be rusty inside as water sits in there even if they are recent. The glass shop (assuming it is an auto glass shop) should have the new rubber seals (it is a pain in the a** getting the glass back in with the seals. They...

need new drivers window on m35a3

You are in PA...contact Dave Newman at Eastern Surplus in Philly.

    BOUGHT 5T today on GL

Just as a point of comparison, I have a really clean M925 that I'd sell for less than $9K. This is slightly an apples/oranges comparison because (a) your truck was rebuilt and mine was not, and (b) mine has a winch on it. However, it gives you an idea about what these trucks go for. My...

    New M915A5's

Phil, those trucks are awesome. They make my M916A1 and M916A2 look like relics (which I guess they kind of are by now). :) Thanks for sharing.

    New guy from Utah

If you are skilled as a mechanic and like a challenge, I suggest you try Government Liquidation. Some trucks come out as runners; others need some assistance. If not, peruse the classified ads or search ebay motors. I know a guy in MD who has a nice M923A1 for like $7500 (DECODEME on this...

The NJ Flood trucks an update :)

Randy, thanks for the update and the level headed perspective.

    Baby gets new shoes

Another option is an M105A3 bed, which will look nice with the recessed lights, the fender flares, and the side markers. Nice job and I love those Firestones!

I need instructions for retrofitting ABS to M923a2

None of the M939 series trucks came with ABS, and that included the A2 series. It was an MWO for all of the M939 series trucks. I had an M925A2 and an M932A2 that did not have ABS. I also have an M923 and an M929 that have it. Not sure what year the MWO came out and it probably varied when...

    After Market landing gear

...or you could contact CUCVFAN for the correct crank up landing leg. I bought one. It is awesome.

    1600's on m923a2

I have had plenty of M939 series trucks with 1400s and never really noticed any problems power-wise. Sure, you have more torque with the 1100s, but the trucks don't really seem to suffer from the taller 1400s.

    1600's on m923a2

This is correct. You are going to kill whatever power that 6CTA had. I know a guy who put them on his M923 and hated it according to what he told me (he is on this list so maybe he will chime in). He actually told me he was fearful pulling out into traffic because the truck was such a dog...

    Tour of Eastern Europe

Duncan, I really enjoyed reading about your trip. Thank you for sharing the story. I'm glad you had a good time and made it home safely.

    Weight of M105 trailer bed

I am not sure the exact weight, but it is far too heavy for two guys to lift and flip. I just moved a bed and a CBC shelter from one chassis to another and it was hairy since I did not have a forklift or a crane. We used jacks and blocking under all corners.

    Soft Top Help

They are easy to remove and reinstall. The soft top frame assemblies are hard to come by. The hardware that mounts around the doors is easy to find...they are the same as those used on the M44, M39, and M809 series trucks. The tubes that go across the cab are specific to the M939 series...
