    M998 FUEL FILTER LOCATION (In-LINE)

So there is a little fuel filter device behind the air filter, that is the fuel tank vent filter, to allow the tank to equalize to atmospheric pressure. For the fuel line itself, it comes out of the tank, through a check valve in line just in front of the fuel tank, then up to the fuel pump...

    Battery Kill Switch

Yes, every component goes to ground, but then all of those grounds end up going to a single point, and then to the negative battery post. Either way, the start of every circuit comes to a single point, and the end of every circuit goes to a single point. Disconnecting either of those will have...

    Battery Kill Switch

Can you explain this to me? I am unaware of how a circuit can be grounded if you completely disconnect the ground side of the circuit. I have heard of people claiming the 12V side can potentially allow reverse flow current, but unless there are aftermarket additions to these trucks, the 12V...

    Battery Kill Switch

usually on negative. Especially if you have a dual 12/24 system. I've seen it argued to do it either between the batteries or on the positive side, but I've always disconnected ground wires for working on stuff, due to the possibility of arcing with a misplaced wrench. The manuals also talk...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Was driving home tonight and above a certain RPM the oil gauge just started jumping erratically towards max. Rather than randomly start a new thread, I did a search and found this is a common occurrence if there is an issue with a wiring connection, though potentially it could be the gauge or...

What's the difference with the ECV Humvees & Regular Humvees (M1123)

ECV should only have 1/2" body lift to clear the turbo to my understanding. You can get most of the same benefits by doing a turbo upgrade, which doesn't require having the extended cooling stack, hood, grill, all that stuff. One of the local group has been converting his A1 truck into an ECV...

    which tire you would prefer

You say it's an M1123; they stopped using 8 bolt rims long before the 1123s were made, so it's extremely unlikely to be 8 bolt. At minimum it should be 12 bolt, and you might end up with a mix of 12 and 24 bolt at worst.

What did you do to your trailer today.

We do a yearly camping event in July for the local group. Usually have 8-12 vehicles show up. We also do a new year's beach run out at ocean shores. Add to these a maintenance day to hang out and do a little work on our vehicles sometime in the spring, and the occasional drive as a group, and...

What did you do to your trailer today.

pretty sure he can't. This ons happened to be sitting in a rotting cardboard box next to the trailer it was supposed to be installed on in the motor pool for a couple of years. Yup, I'm in Washington, down near Oly. are you on the PNW SS facebook group?

    which tire you would prefer

you're saying it has a set of the old 8 bolt rims with it? Those are only rated to 25psi. not all that strong. You might want to get another set of 24 bolt, or at least a set of 12 bolt rims, and throw the 8 bolts in the scrap pile.

What did you do to your trailer today.

So update for my trailer. My buddy scored me a green cover for the trailer, so I will end up painting the trailer green. I still have part of a gallon of RAPCO paint from doing the truck 2 years ago, hopefully it's still good enough. If not I have a newer case of their rattle cans. I finally...

2007 1165A1 ELECTRIC SYSTEM PROBLEM ON STARTUP ONLY ?

to me this does sound like the afterglow function on an earlier start box. Just because it's a newer truck doesn't mean some schmuck in the motor pool didn't throw in whatever box they had on hand

TM for NSN 2330013875424 TRAILER CHASSIS

isn't that just an M1101/M1102/LTT chassis? it's the LTT (Light Tactical Trailer) chassis, the TM is TM 9-2330-392-14&P Here is the link to it in the TMs section, it's the third from bottom, and the two MWO after it on the page are also for this series...

    Humvee Gauges

when polishing plastic, if you try to go too fast or push too hard (typically when using power tools) you can end up overheating and causing more damage than you are trying to fix. Just something to keep in mind if you get one of those drill attachment buffing pads or something like that.

m1123 200amp generator hitting injector line

either bracket fits, but the newer style that goes down to the block is a lot stronger. I posted this link earlier; it has the part numbers for the newer style bracket, as well as the part number for the bolt needed to install to the block. You can take that NSN or part number, search it...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

For the wipers, mine started out on that side, then I switched it. After a few months I switched it back. For me, having it parked on the driver's side helped keep the water running straight down the windshield out of my line of sight slightly longer due to the amount of Rain-X I use. That and...

    Value assessment

value on these is a tricky thing. There is kelley blue book on them. Basic model older trucks can sell for between $6k and $18k, depending on location and condition. As there is nothing special about your truck, but seems in decent condition, I'd say it's likely to bring in $10-14k open market...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

the SEC12 24V I plan to replace the steel cable with synthetic rope, and shorten it by 20 or more feet, and just keep an extension in the rig if I need it. I sent MileMarker an email a couple days ago, but they might be shut down for the week for holiday. If nothing else it's just the 4 holes...

m1123 200amp generator hitting injector line

M10 1.5 x 30 Just one missing bolt shouldn't be enough to let the generator move that much, so I would check the other 2 in front for tightness (one is a little hard to reach up from the bottom) and the rear mounting bracket that goes over to the exhaust stud, as those exhaust studs are prone...
