It's hard to find any gearing higher than the 3.54 because of the portal hubs aren't very common. They almost double the gear ratio, so you have to start out a lot higher.
And as the HMMWV is a relatively uncommon application in the real world, there just isn't much out there.
Trading low end...
I doubt the workers are actually on holiday.
they sent out a letter a couple weeks ago that they are doing an inventory assessment. Not sure what all that entails, but with as crappy as their inventory tracking has been in the past, it might take a while to actually verify what they do or don't...
our doors aren't as difficult to remove during an emergency as your average automobile door is (and if the accident is bad enough to cause the body to crumple, the door is't going to be stuck shut), and the windows aren't really large enough to drag someone out of if there is an emergency...
might just be that they close for the holidays and do an inventory inspection and other stuff.
I checked, and right now there are only a total of 33 items listed on gov planet for the entire country.
So you can relax for now, it isn't just HMMWVs, it's everything shut down.
Then again, where you live there really isn't a large amount of traffic so you aren't having to slam on brakes and dodge the prius drivers that often.
Book top speed in the A0/A1 is 55, for the A2 it's 78, and ECV/REV it's 70. Makes me think the A2 is probably the best option for where we...
Yes, there are a few companies that fix and resell, but there ARE companies that do just paint and flip them, and any implied warranty is crap.
Plenty of threads on here about good and bad experiences with these companies, so you just need to do your research.
yes, you can balance them out with runflats, and then safely run them at highway speeds.
Getting a set of Centramatics or Balancemasters does help, because even being just a little out of balance makes things feel worse the faster you drive.
I've run Wrangler MT and MTR tires on both 12 and 24...
Also to note: the quality and formula for gasoline today is pretty different than it was back 30 years ago, or even more different if you go back over 50 years ago when gasoline was leaded.
We are dealing with petroleum products that are called the same, and come from the same distillation...
Old diesel has sulfur in it for lubrication. Most of the clearances/wear surfaces were also larger, so a little gasoline in the fuel won't cause much additional wear (within reason)
Modern diesel (ULSD) has almost no sulfur, and they have to add in stuff for lubrication. Then a lot of us tend...
Diesel anti-gel is usually a good idea when you start getting that cold.
The main pumps you buy your fuel at, if they are in the same area, should be treating their diesel for use in that cold of weather, but adding more anti-gel won't hurt anything.
Howes, PowerService, HotShot's Secret, or...
it's kind of a toss up as to whether to paint it at this point.
One of the local guys might be able to acquire me a cover for it in tan, in which case I'll likely just leave it tan. If I get one in green/camo, then it will get painted.
Isn't that what they referred to as "ballistic glass"?
The main idea of the ballistic windows, to my understanding, was a layer of glass, then on the inside there was a layer of plastic the purpose of which was to keep the glass from all shattering into the occupant' faces when it got hit by...
Today I went over and looked at a 2012 M1102 trailer I've been wanting to buy for a while. Belongs to one of the guys in the local military vehicle group.
Will need to take it in for State Patrol to do a VIN inspection on it, but got it home without incident.
Took off one of the rear landing...
Might be easiest to buy a NATO end for the cable you already have. Not cheap, but looks like you can get one for under $100 on ebay.
Do that and a couple of Anderson style SB350 or maybe just the SB175 as you're talking smaller loads (not sure what gauge your cable is) to make one end swappable...
Here is one source for a packard connector "Y" splitter.
https://www.bigmikesmotorpool.com/collections/m998-hmmwv-parts/products/female-packard-y-connector-for-splicing-ms27147-1
They also have decent pricing on the packard connectors as well, at $1.50 each or $13.50 for a 10 pack. It's where...
Going through some related items to products I was looking at, I came across this charger. It doesn't list any of the actual specs, only that it will charge batteries down to 1 volt. At $180 it's cheaper than some of the other options I've seen in the past, doesn't have to be permanently...
Are you sure that you read/posted that correctly? Most places have regulations that a generator is NOT allowed to be within a minimum distance (5 feet on propane/natural gas home standby units) of any house openings to prevent exhaust and carbon monoxide from entering the home.
"can only be 10...
They seem to sell pretty quickly at $1k per door, or $4k+ for a 4 door set.
For 2 doors I'd expect somewhere between $2k and $2500.
Out of the price range I am willing to spend on them.
