Yeah, I've seen that one. That was an expensive day.

That thing right in front of the camera, that goes out second? That's the very topic of this thread...an FLU419! The windshield is protected by cardboard, and the FOPS may have been removed, but the work lights and Schmidt FL4 are unmistakable. I wonder who "won" this one at auction?

Downstream of the lift pump is correct, at least for the one I have. It would close with normal fuel flow if it were upstream. I don't like the restriction it causes, though.

What I have found regarding chainsaws is that there are two brands to choose from, Fairmont-Greenlee or Stanley. As far as modern and safe, the various designs look to be relatively unchanged for years, and neither brand seems to offer a chainbrake, in the usual chainsaw sense. Since they are...

Welcome FLUmmoxed. You will find a wealth of information here. Also a great deal of empathy. ;-)

They are supposed to be identical, per the manual, but one has a check valve inside.

After dinner I checked the bolt head on the intake side of the lift pump and found a regular bolt head...i.e. without any evidence of non-return valve internals, like there are in the bolt on the output side, which has an obvious plug in the head. The thing is, the parts manual gives the same...

Bleeding brakes: probably the first thing I do, once I get her running again. So, I replaced the fuel line between strainer and lift pump, including the return line between engine block and Tee fitting. That last small section seemed pretty suspect, spinning fairly easily on its banjo's...

Quick question for the group, for those of you who have completely blown out your fuel system between tank and IP: How many pumps of the primer pump will it take to refill the lines, strainer, lift pump, etc from the tank, assuming I have a sealed system without any blockages? Or will the...

Thanks peakbagger, I do recall your posts on the topic. I may be giving my local marine shops a call tomorrow.

After that, I think I may try a small tank gravity feeding the filters directly.

Well I was out there in the dark, and nothing glows, so I guess that's a positive. The strainer was clean, and a steady dribble of fuel flowed out as long as the cup was off. I am pretty sure it was fuel from the tank as it was flowing too quickly to be the downstream parts draining out. I...

I had to close up for the day. Will hopefully get to the strainer (not sieve, wrong word) tomorrow. I am wondering whether I will be able to get the fuel lines on/off those barbs, since I don't have the one-sided fitting, like most. The valve is stuck open.

Replaced this, because it was obvious, and the fuel filters, which didn't look all that bad. New washers in place, all bolts tight. Will not bleed, so I'm guessing that fuel is not even flowing freely to the primer pump. The seive will be my next check.

https://www.slipnottraction.com/ Bicycle tire chains. Their lawyers don't like it when they sell to unicyclists though.
