You would essentially be building a new cab. Unless you really like endless endless endless repair work, get a good cab, fix THAT one up while it is off and empty, swap it out and be done with that part. I am sure there is more to fix on a truck that has a cab looking like this....
I appreciate the adventure aspect. Personally, having lived in and travelled extensively in (Western)Europe and adjacent countries, all the way into Russia, I can't jump up and down and say "great idea". If you travelled through western Europe...yes. That is certainly fun; you would get...
Temperature was just below freezing this morning. She cranked for 15 seconds until she fired up, which is normal for a cold start without any starting aids.
I tried out the tow lights I got from DERRICK and they work very well (with the repaired trailer receptacle...)
Winter is coming and it...
I can confirm that, after pumping what seems like much too much grease in with the pneumatic grease gun, it came out on the back, pushing all the old grease and gunk out. I did that after taking the caps off and installing a grease zerk and inspecting the bearings (were fine). I had the axles...
I drained the coolant, refilled with plain tap water, added CASCADE non sudsing detergent and ran the engine to operating temp. Then I drained again, unhooked the radiator hoses, put the garden hose into the upper radiator port on the block and ran the engine, water gushing out at the bottom...
All you need to do is to loosen the rad bolt nuts at the bottom, unhook the radiator bracket at the top and one end of the upper rad hose and tilt the rad forward. Enough room to get to the four bolts that hold the fan. If you have a w/w truck, put a piece of cardboard between rad and winch so...
Not sure if I ordered a 20" or 18"..I think 20 because it needed trimming. The 18 probably won't. It has been a couple years.

Affirmative, that's the one. 20". Super easy to put on. I am sure the water pump bearings appreciate the lightweight option.

After soldering the wires into my trailer receptacle I now discovered I no longer have a right turn signal.....AAARRGGHH. I guess I need to bring her back around and take that darn trailer receptacle apart again. Nothing is more fun than doing things over outside in the cold. Probably a short...
IMHO this is a "must do" modification, given the age of the parts on our trucks. The mod plugs a port in the hydraulic line and removes one nasty potential leak. It is a safety upgrade to install the air operated brake light switch.
You can use a civy air pressure operated brake light switch...
I replaced my M35A2 riveted steel fan with a $13 fan from Summit Racing, blades shortened with a pair of scissors, to prevent the possibility of radiator-destroying missiles. I drove the Deuce without a fan for a few weeks (because people have said you really only need the fan when the truck is...
It appears to be between the seats rather than under the dash, so I second a pull/push cable to operate a PTO or hydraulic valve. Throttle cable is also possible but that tends to be on/under the dash.
Wrong side...I'm just above NY state.
You would only buy rims once, regardless how much you drive. If you really want 22.5, it's either scrapyard searching (not here; these wheels do not exist where I live, as I said) to save a few bucks, or buy new and be done with it.....or be able to recenter...
If you search here, there is a company that makes the 6 lug 22.5 wheels new. About $250 per. Someone here very recently posted pics and links. Wheels look sharp and he runs duals.
I have looked for the "you just gotta look, they are out there" wheels. Not sure where they are, but out there they...
Link works when copied into browser and putting "http" in front.
Nice pic, good read, recollections (some inaccurate) from someone who used to own a Deuce.

Finally got around to soldering wires back onto the trailer plug. Previous owner had ripped them all out. Had to solder with a propane torch because my sodering iron is too wimpy to heat up those massive metal lugs of the plug. There is a first time for everything....propane soldering.
I did...
