    roof mounted cab AC

If this part of your question is about the factory LMTV A/C, so you can compare to a roof mounted one, the answer is "a lot". At the high end, there is a company selling kits that are $4500, complete. At the low end, it probably factors a lot on luck, time spent finding parts and auctions...

Two rows of seats in cab?

Yeah, I think they would, though I wonder if they would get motion sickness. There is a post around here for what I did for mine. I found some narrow 16" wide MRAP seats, and made a steel plate that bolts to the existing bolt pattern and then has new holes for the two new seats in the middle...

    Hydraulic System Tips

My thought process was that it clearly wasn't an actual solution, and the "stuck on the side of the road" bandaid-fix of putting any o-ring on that kind of fits seems to go without saying (and is true of everything on these aging trucks... keeping an o-ring kit in the toolbox is smart). If...

    Lifting cab

If you don't have a crane or a forklift, you could pull the line off the latch and plug the line. Then, use a screwdriver to push the piston pin back to release the latch (or unscrew the piston out the side, if you have to).

    Hydraulic System Tips

I did not have good results with the #216 o-ring. It's clearly much smaller than the groove it goes in. After the #216 started leaking I even put a back-up o-ring next to the #216 in an attempt to take up some of the gap. (A backup ring is a real thing, not just a second o-ring...

    Different LMTV canvases?

How many different canvases are there for the LMTV? When I was in the Army, I remembered that the forward side flaps were on top of the rear side flaps, but the current canvas I have for mine is the opposite (so the rear side flaps catch the wind and balloon out). Mine is stamped...

Civilian hydraulic oil for cab lift reservoir?

Looks like it went up to $7 (still trivial), but I bought 8qt which got me above their $50 free shipping... so I got 8qt shipped for $54 in February. https://www.pilotshop.com/catalog/lgpages/phillips66XC5606H.php?clickkey=5145 I used an extra quart or two to refill the system, run everything...

Civilian hydraulic oil for cab lift reservoir?

Good video. I wish he went into more explanation of the performance details of H5606 vs other grades. It is good he suggests a cheaper equivalent (though H5606 is $5/qt, and the truck only uses 3qt, so it's not a huge deal).

    batteries in lmtv?

This is theoretically true, but I question how much practical truth it holds. The battery box is still the same size, so changing the configuration of the same volume of batteries inside shouldn't really create a meaningful change. It's like replacing 2 D flashlight batteries with 8 AAA's...

    Another fuel issue

What fuel pump are you talking about? These trucks don't really have a fuel pump in the conventional sense of the term. Fuel come up out of the tank, through the governor, and into the injectors... that's it (besides the filter and water separator).

Two rows of seats in cab?

I wish they had more pictures of the mod. Looks pretty cool. They have a bunch of other interesting stuff on that site, like how they've replaced the cab air bags with coil-over springs.

Two rows of seats in cab?

I was looking at a Steyr site, and noticed this picture that appears to show two rows of seats. Judging by the position of the front passenger seat in relation to the window, it must be pretty far forward, but still interesting. https://excap.de/der-excap/fahrerkabine/

Sound the new style air dryer makes?

It's the "Haldex PURest". I didn't know there were more than the "old style" and "new style", sorry.

Sound the new style air dryer makes?

I just finished installing the new style air dryer on my M1078(A0). The old one made a loud "POP-RUSH" sound, and this new one makes a much softer "CREEK-HISS" sound. Is that how it's supposed to be? (I know, I know, trying to explain sounds in text, haha. But the previous sound was a loud...

1997 M1078 LMTV General Maintenance Questions!

Generally, I would start working your way through all the fluids, filters, zip ties, hoses, etc. The trucks see a lot of abuse and lack of maintenance in the military, plus now that they are 20 years old anything rubber/plastic is going to dry out and crack/leak. You'll likely find numerous...

Are the sputtering and white smoke related to the losing prime? Both my 3116's sputter and white smoke some when I start, but don't lose prime.

LMTV to OE18, Our Achilles Heel and other diversions...

Best insurance ever! Do you have a picture of the tool? Is it something that we could reverse engineer and make a 3D printable version, or is it heavier duty than that?
