    What is it?

I figured I'd split my posts to make them easier to read. What impresses me most about the MRAPs is how quickly they were developed & deployed to our troops. I served as a Marine tank crewman from 1985-92, and even during Desert Shield/Desert Storm we did not see the gear we really needed...

    What is it?

NO. The following members got it right with the Buffalo MP/CV (Mine Protected/Clearance Vehicle). The Buffalo evolved from a South African design, and the prototype was built by Technical Solutions Group Incorporated, later acquired by Sonic Jet Performance Incorporated, and finally...

feel free to kick me out if you wish ...

That IH cab is similar to the ones used on M920s & older M915-series trucks. The military also used lots of IH Paystar 5000-series trucks in GSA roles around bases/posts....swap out the fiberglass tilt hood you have now for a Paystar-series front clip, and you've got instant "cred." :mrgreen...

    International MRAP

Single rear wheels are the MaxxPro; dual rear wheels are the MaxxPro Plus...to handle extra armor. Hopefully by the time these come up for auction, the regs will have changed for the better & we can buy these at auction!

    What is it?

It's an RG-33 MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected)...quite possibly an RG33L. It doesn't have the add-on skirt armor to protect against EFPs, so it's not an RG33L Plus. It also comes in 4x4 (Category I MRAP), but these are reportedly used by US Army SF units. The 6x6 RG33s are Category II...

is it safe to pull a M348A2 with a deuce?

Ferroequinologist is correct; if you are not hauling anything for anyone else (aka "commercial"), then you don't need a CDL...dependent upon the age of the vehicle & your intended purpose (for example, as an RV or camper), you might not need a CDL. California & Nevada require a Class "A"...

    Traction: Super Singles or Duals?

Hello, newbie here; but I was in the USMC in the 80s & early 90s, when the switch-over from NDTs to Super Singles occurred. The big reasons (from what I was told at the time) for the late switch-over were cost & technology. The SS were newer high-performance radials, and the technology for...
