Wow, nevermind. There was no useful information shared in that thread and zout made it pretty clear that wasn't an accident. Enjoyed watching him build that M109, but he can take that attitude a shove it. Would really appreciate any helpful information anyone might be able and willing to share...
Thanks! Hadn't seen that one. Wondering about swapping onto a shorter tractor truck though. Can anyone help me out with some dimensions or anything like that?
M109 box on M939
Seriously thinking about swapping my M109 box over onto an M939, Would probably prefer a cargo truck, but the tractors are selling a lot cheaper and the shorter overall length is kinda appealing. Have been searching and reading, wondering though, how it would all line-up...
Was asking on another forum, what's the point of the slantback kit? Seems like it would eliminate some useful space and I can't see the upside? Someone suggested that it might be to allow the gunner to have a great angle to bang-bang-bang?
Just posted a bunch of medium adjustable towbars for sale in the classifieds section. First twenty people to respond are gonna get them for $150ea. Finally affordable enough to be able to justify cutting them up to make an extended A-frame hoist.
I designed that mount and Artec is cutting/forming the parts for me. Might be something they end up adding to their product line. Not sure. Didn't like the RBC mount at all and almost bought a Stinkyfab mount, but just ended up doing my own thing to make sure it was exactly what I wanted.
Yeah, I think ideally I'd like to have an M928A2. If you're going to go big... right? Although an M925 is still plenty big and is probably a bit more maneuverable? Got a little while to think about it I guess, but will probably end up pulling the trigger on whatever comes my way.
Yes, sort of. Just finished designing the mounting brackets for the steering cylinder and I'm waiting for Artec Industries to cut the parts for me. Progress on the motorhome has been slow and steady for most of the last 5yrs that I've been working on it, but stalled-out almost completely for a...
Thanks for following-up on that first post. Have spent the last four years rebuilding my M109 and would really like to buy (at least one) M939. Have been watching prices for the last few months and out here on the west coast, super-fresh trucks seem to be selling for about $3500+. That's a good...
Thanks for sharing all this info. Have an M109 that I'm turning into a motorhome and it's currently registered in OR, but was wondering what I might be looking at if I ever wanted to register it in CA. It easily meets the motorhome requirements. Will have to go ask how much that might cost...
That's really funny. Friend of mine just bought one of those old Miller's on ebay and I was giving him a hard time for buying an old machine instead of a new one. Sent him a link to Soni's post.
Hey G, wanna talk numbers?
I'm working on the steering now and was just looking at the scrub radius and ackermann, etc. Using your numbers (9.6" & 8-degrees), with a 43" tall tire and 1.25" offset, I'm coming up with a scrub radius right around 5.3"?
Subtracted 19.2" (9.6" x 2) from 79.5...
No.Someone sent me a 5-ton hub to take some measurements from, but ran into some problems with the geometry. Working on a new design now. They're going to bolt to the lugnuts. Working on 6 & 10-lug versions.
Just finished designing a new set of leafspring mounts and skidplates for the front axle. Eliminates the U-bolts (using four 3/4 x 8.5" bolts instead), which improves ground clearance considerably. Angle is adjusted for flipped leafspring perches (increasing caster). Going to make a pair and see...
