What do you mean by if my engine is okay? Do you mean the condition of the engine originally?
Because my 6.2 was rebuilt in 2013, when the vehicle was decommissioned. As soon as I got it, I replaced all the fluids and had everything checked and the mechanic said everything looked in good condition.
Just to be clear, as soon as I spotted the problem I refilled the coolant. So I didn't drive more than half a mile with LOW coolant, not zero (only took 2 gallons to refill it engine cold) temperature was constant at 260 as I was going to turn the fan on.
And the cooling system does still work...
I've mainly noticed that when my Cadillac solenoid is plugged in the fan does turn off, but when going steep hills the temp just keeps going up and I have to pull over and unplug the valve to get it to cool down.
I assume I should just replace the Cadillac valve?
On a related issue, it looks...
So if theres a second connector where would it lead to? The injection pump?
I thought all 3l80s had lock up torque converters? And the TH400s were the ones with the lock up feature? I'll have to see if theres a second tab on mine.
Yes, but why, like whats the concept of operation when a wheel is off the ground? And why does it differ when one wheel is on a surface and slipping? Just looking for some food for thought :D
Why then is there a wire coming from the engine harness to the transmission.
There's a tab connector on the side of the 3l80 which connected up to the engine harness...
So a couple days ago I went out for some off roading and came off a small slope at an angle, which caused two wheels to be off the ground (one in rear, one in front). Without brake modulation, The vehicle would not move at all with more throttle.
As far as I know and understand the torsen...
So my humvee came with the TDM unplugged and never thought that much of it, I've only ever had it plugged in once and the temps ran at 190 in 60 degree weather.
In the summer when its in the 80s the truck runs at 180 with the fan always on. Now (avg daily temps are around 60) truck has been...
Has anyone ever done this conversion?
Seems like with the 6.5 turbos costing $4000+ this would be a cheap way to get some better mileage and power out of the 6.2.
Found some discussion on it for the blazers and people seem to respond well to it...
I've insulated the inside side portion of the body. Does more for heat than for sound
I have two layers of thick rubber in the center console, with a lead sheet in one of the rubber sheets. Keeps drivetrain noise and heat down.
I am planning on getting a full undercoating do help deaden road...
Another one of am generals mislabeled harness's?
I have my fan timer disconnected so my fan is on all the time. Does this affect how the kick down solenoid works?
Come to think of it, I think I've only ever had the transmission downshift once, and it didn't do much anyway. Most of the time I control the downshifting.
Never saw the need in a humvee since climbing a hill steep enough and at a slow enough speed (to allow a downshift) doesn't really help...
The name is pretty straight forward, but what happens when its disconnected...?
I'm asking because I want to install an A2 engine harness before I have the 4l80 in.
The main difference between the A2 and A1/A0 harness is the trans kick down solenoid. So if it were disconnected would the 3l80...
As far as I can tell the gauge still reads the consumption of fuel correctly. It's just where the needle starts.
Like if I could move the needle back up to the full position with just the internals of the gauge, it would be fixed.
Kinda like a recalibration of a speedometer.
