I don't think it's quite that simple, but still probably doable. I don't believe there is such thing as a "correct voltage LED" (e.g. 12V LED). So you would have to use an LED and resistor to drop the voltage, at a minimum.
Wow, no kidding? I assumed that they were just manually canceled, the way the turn signal switch is just bolted to the steering column. I'll look for your thread.
I've actually been working on little 3D printed sun shades for the transmission panel, and the warning lights panel (because I always leave my blinker on). The shades will just bolt in place using the existing bolts on the dash. I haven't finished them, but they are on the list... hopefully...

I think saying it's the "called for Allison ATF" is an overstatement, and unlikely to do much for this issue. According to Wikipedia, there are over 100,000 of these trucks running around with their transmissions filled with engine oil, and they are doing just fine. Unrelated to this issue...

I think he's mistaken. Even the manual states that the 58 gallon tank of fuel is designed to give it an operating range of 300 miles. So they were only expecting us to get a little over 5 MPG.
When you use the phrase "interaxle differential", are you talking about a gizmo between the two rear axles, or the differential inside the transmission/transfer case that locks when in MODE? Because when I'm thinking through what he's saying, the differential in the transmission shouldn't cause...
Slowing down is good, but even more important is that you don't want to hang out at speeds where there is a large resonant vibration. So even speeding up through a vibration zone is better than staying in one that is at a lower speed.
I see all these posts where people have broken that internal door handle lever part. If I can borrow one from someone, I can take measurements and see what it would take to get them machined. I can use a broken part, as long as I can hold/glue it back together enough to take measurements.
