It's worth a shot, but I doubt that's it. My LMTV is pretty pristine, almost amazingly so. No dents, no dings, nothing looks broken or replaced, etc. Then Pvt. Murphy comes a knockin', and everything that moves or turns needs to be destroyed. At this point it's getting super annoying, as I...
There was just a truck on eBay that had one of those mounted in the cab too. Did you buy that one?
It's a field telephone. I have no idea why people would want one mounted in a truck. They are typically used to talk between fighting emplacements in defensive positions. Kind of cool gizmos...
This is the exact same story that has happened to me. I cracked the water pump housing, then vibrated all the bolts out of it, broke the alternator off, broke the starter off, cracked the engine block, replaced the engine, broke alternator bracket bolts, and cracked a transmission line. After...
I saw that there are currently 5 left on eBay for $15/ea, under the auction name "FRONT-CAB-SUPPORT-WEAPON-SYSTEM-MOUNT-FOR-M1078-M1083-TRUCK-5342013717973". Probably won't beat that price again. So two people will get a pair, then one poor sole gets only 1, haha.
After reading this whole thread, I'm still not completely clear, is the P901 connector in the dash (by default, without having the winch panel or any extra wiring harnesses that are added in trucks with winch panels)?
Are the cables for a tachometer already in the dash, or is that part of the wiring harness for the winch panel? I looked at pictures of the wiring harness on eBay, and it didn't look like the tach wires were part of it, but I could be mistaken.
Thanks!
I happened to see some flexible LMTV transmission lines on eBay the other day. It is worth noting that the pictures show the tubing is marked as 1-1/8" ID.
I had a flexible line made at the Parker Store. Cost $140. If you want one, the Parker part number 471TC-06-06-16-16-12-76 will allow them to recreate you the driver's side line. The last two digits, 76, indicate that it is a 76" long line. So if you want a passenger side line too, I measured it...
The best way to measure threads is using a tool called a thread pitch gauge. They are like a set of feeler gauges, but with little "saw blades", each with a different thread. You hold them up to the threads, and only one will fit. Even the difference between close english and metric threads...
That's a good point. I could just cut it and mate it back with rubber line and hose clamps.
Thanks for the offer to send it, but I don't think I need that. At least not yet. Just knowing if the threads are english or metric will probably solve most of the problem. I imagine if someone has a...
I got the line disconnected at both ends, and yes, there is a tiny crack where the flared cone meets the straight tube.
I have played a lot of Tetris, and there appears to be no way to get the line out of the truck without cutting it in half, removing the front drive shaft, or removing the...
Last night I took the leaking end off. There did appear to be an o-ring groove in the face of the male flare (the 90° adapter that goes into the transmission), though there was not one in it, and I didn't pull out any pieces or anything. I put an o-ring in it, that seemed to fit. I felt...
Ok, will do. I'm catching a ride home now to get some overalls, tools, and supplies. How much fluid is going to drain out when I remove that line? Like 10 gallons?
