Good God please tell me you asked that question backwards!!! You didn't seriously consider towing a 5 ton with ANY CUCV I hope !! Now if it's the other way around then you won't even know the CUCV is there.
It actually happens to both varieties. Especially the tractors but not exclusively. Most of the time it is actually the wedge that gets set up and hitting the drum frees it free.
I think the key to this thread is whether the USMC ever "USED" the Deuces. Sure they did, they used a lot of them. Did they "OWN" them, well, that's a little different........
I was actually appointed as a Senior NCO to a board made up entirely of officers for accident investigations...
The sticking brakes (original issue) is most likely from lack of use. The wedge "polishes" itself by being used. When not used often the edges can get rough and hang up when applied. This is why whacking it with a sledge releases.
What about that 1061 hulk that will be coming your way? Maybe some slicing and dicing could work? Thinking maybe a couple long pieces of angle to cradle it and tie downs. Put all that on the base frame and suspension?
I finally actually got home to NY. I had to drive to NC, drop the trucks and fly out. Flew from Greensboro to DC. Flight canx from DC to Syracuse. The airline planned to detour me through Boston, but an hour later decided it would be best to go back to Charlotte and up to Syracuse. Well that...
PJ Marty and I got in about 17:45. Nice uneventful trip. Cannot believe how much more fun I have every year. I think the dates were perfect.
The Hardball was the best ever! No lines no waiting. Nice route and good food for sure. See everyone next year!!!!
