Greetings!
To further the research project mentioned a few threads below - I am looking for the following information about your trucks:
VIN number:
Registration (USA) number:
Contract number:
With or without winch? (originally):
Make - if known:
You can post here, PM me or email me at...
Kenny,
I am looking for VIN and registration numbers for M35 and M35A1 trucks, and other variants of the same era. I am particularly intersted in the transition from gas to Multifuel - which was not done at the same time for all models. Initially, the extra weight of the Multifuel brought about...
RE: Research project
Yes, Kenny, I'd like the info on your M108 - and your tractors - anything except short cargos by AM General - contract numbers if known would be helpful too. Also, when responding, if you fellows would let me know if your data plate says with or without winch - that will...
I usually buy a running engine for 500 bucks or so - hence the components tend to have a low value to me. Of the items you have listed, only the injection pump would I value over a hundred bucks. Lines are gonna be a tough sell I think.
Hope this helps,
David Doyle
Fellows,
Do any of you have the old printed DRMS vehicle auction catalogs squirreled away? I am looking to buy/borrow some in the 15-20 year-old range.
Thanks - again,
David Doyle
Hey fellows - I am doing a bit of research, and need some from ya'll.
I'd like to hear from those of you who own M35-type trucks that are NOT AM General M35A2 trucks.
If you have a AM General tanker - that's great, I need to hear from you.
If you have a Kaiser M35A2 - that is also great.
If...
Jason,
The NHC250 gave them all the power they wanted/that the driveline was designed for considering the conditions the vehicle is designed to operate in. The R6602, ENDT673, LDS465 and the NHC250 all have similar performance.
Best wishes,
David Doyle
Jim,
The smoking LD is precisely why the LDT was created, the turbo of the LDT is presently solely to clean the exhaust to meet the then-current EPA mandate. As EPA regulations tightened, the Dept of Army could once or twice got waivers which allowed the Multifuel to remain in production. The...
RE: What other engine trany combo
Few engines are as inexpensive, as readily available, as reliable and as easily installed as the LDt-465.
My 02,
David Doyle
It sounds like the gasket under the shutoff cover is missing? If so, then replace it, if it is then adding another may shim it out some to prevent this from recurring.
Hope this helps,
David Doyle
Things that should be pointed out - first of all, the military and Continental SPECIFICALLY says NOT to use the Multifuel for engine braking - that is, do NOT step down through the gears to use the engine to retard the movement of the truck, as one would do with a gasoline engine. Continental...
I have a 530C - restored - I'll post pix in a couple days. I have a 530B that has been a parts donor for the C - I hope to locate either a water purification or pipeline bed to install on the 530B chassis.
Best wishes,
David Doyle
RE: duece transmission problem
Suggestion, pull the shift top off and check for damage to the sheet metal tabs that help guide the shifter. And also make sure none of your shift forks are damaged or bent. If your screen name is an indication of the type of truck that you have (530C pumper)...
Bjorn,
Unfortunately it seems we have had a misunderstandiing - while I would have gladly shipped you a head, injector and or pump as mentioned in the PM - I would have had to known your desire before 9 AM this morning - which is why I tried to send you my cell number....I am now on the road...
