AC generator plus inverter to start deuce

Kevin, Sorry to be late chiming in here - but hopefully this will help. First, there are Leece-Neville, and Prestoliite alternators. I am not aware of a "design flaw" with either, but the Prestolite (fan near center of length of unit) is very difficult to obtain parts for. In my opinion, the...

Jason, I've sent you and Bjorn PMs. Let me know the status. Best wishes, David Doyle

    DISCUSSION - Slobbering Multifuel Cure?

Yep, the bona-fide arctic included an insulated blanket for the hood - and a fuel-fired heater, provision for relocating the batteries, canvas shifter boots to keep cold air out, and a whole host of other goodies. Best wishes, David Doyle West Tennessee

    numbers and letters on bumpers???

There is no universal code to decipher these numbers posted on the net anywhere that I know of - your best bet is to post them here on the group and more than likely one of us will be able to tell you what they mean. The final sequence is the vehicle's order of march. Hope this is some help...

    pintle size question??

Yep, the axle, and more importantly the hubs, tires, wheels are the bulk of the weight. Swapping the axle will resolve much of this - but as others have warned, install an axle assembly with a braking system compatible with your vehicle. As far as ferrying it home empty, I'd be extremely...

    pintle size question??

The trailer tips the scales at about 2750 lbs. It has an air over hydraulic brake system. The military frowns on towing them with HMMWVs even. GL has had several M101 variants at auction lately, you might should check their site. Hope this helps, David Doyle West Tennessee

    M 211 ???????

I seem to have seen lockouts for this truck YEARS ago...doubt its an off the shelf item anywhere now - salvage yard only - and tough at that. M135/M211 axles are the same, no difference in ratios. Hard top is available from Memphis Equipment. Brakes have two cylinders per drum...I am a stock...

    pintle size question??

As I recall, the pintle WILL close over the M105 lunette ring, but you have got WAY more trailer than your M1009 can begin to stop. I would have very serious safety concerns about this. Hope this helps, David Doyle West Tennessee

    M211 axles VS M135 axles.

Well, I grabbed the ORD 9, made notes...and now of course have no idea where I put them. I'll reinvent this wheel tomorrow. But in the mean time, be assured there is not hub flipping involved. FWIW, I wrote an in depth item on this a few years ago that was posted to the old Skylee (mil-veh)...

    M211 axles VS M135 axles.

I'll need to trot out my ORD9-SNL-G749 to verify the details of this - but as I recall the M135/M211 single/dual conversion is involves a spacer plate, and of course the offset of the steel wheels. I'll grab the ORD 9 at lunch today and let you know. Hope this helps, David Doyle West Tennessee

    Parts needed

I scoured the place pretty thoroughly a few years ago, and don't remember seeing it - but then I missed the famous, well-travelled pipeline bed or I would have brought it home! I plan on checking on things up there soon though. Thanks! David Doyle West Tennessee

    Parts needed

If this is not the appropriate place to post this plea, please forgive me. I am new to the group and just trying to find my way around. I am seeking some parts to complete an obscure G-742-based truck. The truck is a V-17A/MTQ telephone maintenance truck. I need the rear steps, the gin...

    When were M52 A2's built?

The M52A2 is powered by the LDS-465. The sequence went like this; first were the M39 series trucks (IH was the prime contractor, Diamond T secondary) powered by the Continental R6602 gas engine. Next came a repower program by Mack that installed the ENDT-673, resulting in the M52A1 and...

What is this M44 series truck?

By the way, this winch is nowhere near as powerful as it looks, and even self-recovery would be taxing. It is designed to lift telephone poles, and the extension on the passenger's side is to attach a small collapsible cable reel for stringing telephone lines. Regards, David Doyle West Tennessee

    Howard Hammonds - deceased????

That is sad to learn....he was a fine, and interesting fellow. Thank you for the information. Sincerely, David Doyle West Tennessee

    Cranetruck needs some help

I am very concerned that there is a problem with the number 3 injector, which could be the root cause of all these problems..the leaking hydraulic head being only a symptom. Were this one of my trucks, I would check the fuel flow to either five or six. If the fuel is flowing good to one of...

    Howard Hammonds - deceased????

Greetings all, Earlier today I posted the message below - having gotten no response, I reverted to my basic researcher role. There, I found an obituary for Charlie Howard Hammonds, of Greenville, Ky - age 79, army veteran - with a son named Wayne "Buddy" Hammonds among his survivors. This does...

What is this M44 series truck?

The winch is from a V-17A/MTQ telephone maintenance truck, or given the dual rear wheels, it could be from the super-rare M765 telephone maintenance truck. If either of these is the case, the outer rear portion of the cab door is probably banged up. More likely it was a M764 pole setter truck...

    sprag/overrun testing

Like you are going down the highway. It should only turn a minimal distance the other way. Regards, David Doyle West Tennessee

    Cranetruck needs some help

The no-start situation is something that I did not pick up on upon reading the initial report above. As that is the case, I would amend my recommendation as follows. First, loosen/remove the offending line at the injector, which should be number 3. Also remove the large plug in the top center of...
