    m35a2c starter issue

"cold start system" refers to either the flame start (original, old) or the ether start system (retrofit) operated by the toggle switch to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. Oil viscosity is also important. 15W40 turns into molasses once temps drop below freezing. Takes quite a bit of...

New M35A2 Owner - Recovery Story & IP Leak Question

Correct, although a **little** oil behind the square cover is not unusual. I would put the following on my to-do list: - order O-ring kit for the IP - make new gasket for shutoff cover from gasket material (easy). - check out oil supply and return hoses for the IP. If suspicious, take off and...

    M35 a2 brake master cyclinder

This bolt was conspicuously missing on my Deuce and, apparently, was treated as optional by many motor pool mechanics that did not want the aggravation....

1965 Deuce and a half m35 oil leaking from bottom of oil cooler?

I learned that I need to be very careful in diagnosing leaks on my multifuel. Clean the block, remove old trails of oil and start with a clean engine. Oftentimes the oil just pools and drips from a convenient low point but comes from somewhere else. Compressor: yes, a simple 4 bolt mount with...

Repowering Deuce with LDS and a Brownie box

I wholeheartedly agree! However, Tom's OD kit allows me to get scared with my LDS at lower rpm than you! I still don't know how fast it would run if I let it. I recommend that OD mod to anyone with a healthy, turned up and pyrometered multi.

    In-tank pump problems

You checked the rubber hose attached to the in tank pump? TM has a great troubleshoot decision tree for fuel system.

why three air lock dash switches

They are not "stock" but people have used the type of switch used for the air shift transfer case switch for air actuated lockers (ARB lockers). Makes for a clean, stock look. It also makes me want to duplicate that exact setup before I shy away for cost reasons, still drooling. If the truck...

Pyrometer/EGT gauge: Are the K-probes all the same?

Thanks, rusty. I found some reference here: http://thesensorconnection.com/content/thermocouple-wire-color-reference-chart-type-k-j-and-n-usa-and-international-iec-5843 However, at least to me it seems that if a probe is a certain type, e.g. a "K" probe, it should work with other "K" calibrated...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

My NAPA carries CuNiFer brake lines. Even I can make double flares that work when using this material :-) I learned about the stuff on this site as well. Really cool when you can gently bend the brake lines by hand and they do not kink.

Pyrometer/EGT gauge: Are the K-probes all the same?

I have a Westach EGT gauge; worked fine for years. Then it stopped showing EGT/showed them sporadically. I put in a new K-probe. Now it does show temps, but ridiculously low (400 F) on uphill grades where it should get to 1000 or slightly above. Are there different types of K-probes and how...

Sad day...Queen Lola got tucked away in her winter quarters. I miss her already. Here is a pic from earlier today: Deuce in its natural habitat "Where Is Waldo? Edition":

    Spare Motor

The fun fact about these engine cans is that they weigh in at about the same weight as the engine itself (a little less). The bottom half of the can (which is what you would use) is almost 500 lbs. The top is bigger and therefore even heavier.

Man, that is one speedy Deuce! I bet you can't even push the windshield open at that kind of speed! :-)

    Spare Motor

That engine is a heavy piece of kit. If it is complete with bell housing and flywheel, around the 1500 lbs mark. I know, because I have one sitting in my garage. I use a 2t cherry picker to lift it and move it, if I have to. It is sitting there because I overhauled an LDS and this is now a...

    An American Deuce in Canada
