CAD files for a removable three-point hitch

Gotta admit, I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at. Could you post some pics of something like that installed on a truck? Just not too familiar with that type of heavy equipment and want to understand what you're talking about. Thanks in advance.

CAD files for a removable three-point hitch

Sorry, missed this post. Are you talking about the hitch I posted a screen-capture of in post 3? If so, then I'm planning on welding that directly to the crossmember and effectively boxing-in that portion of the crossmember. The vertical bracket on the backside of the crossmember would extend to...

    2" removable receivers

I don't know that I ever got as far as thinking about materials, and I haven't looked at those files in a while, but guess I might have used something like 3/16-1/4" plate? I wouldn't use solid for anything, except maybe an application where I might be concerned about tubing getting crushed...

"Extreme MV wheelin" in Las Cruces NM....

****, I never made the connection. You are THE Soni. Wow, cool. The vehicles you built were some of my biggest design influences when I started building off-road vehicles. Thanks for the inspiration!

"Extreme MV wheelin" in Las Cruces NM....

Yeah, the Scorpion! That thing started it all. Launched the whole tube-chassis rock crawler thing that one vehicle right there.

making small batches of custom parts

Started a thread about some receiver hitch mounts that I designed. Uploaded CAD files to the CAD Library, free for anybody/everybody is welcome to download, use, modify, whatever.

    Building full hydro steering

Just having a hard time understanding why you chose to mount the orbital like that, when it could have easily been mounted on the engine-compartment-side of the firewall. Aside from any potential safety issues, that big hole you hacked out of the firewall just seems kind of unnecessary. Am I...

CAD files for a removable three-point hitch

Sorry no, I probably won't make drawings for many of the files I post. It's just kind of tedious and time-consuming, and I don't have any personal use for them. Maybe someone else will create drawings to share?

CAD files for a removable three-point hitch

OK, here you go. But I haven't created any dimensioned drawings, so I don't see how this would be any more useful than the screen captures I already posted.

CAD files for a removable three-point hitch

Sure, I can post a PDF but if you download the EPRT file and then download/install eDrawings you'll be able to view the 3D CAD model. eDrawings is a free CAD viewer made by Solidworks, which is the CAD software that I use to design all this kind of stuff.

    2" removable receivers

Exactly. We're talking about radiuseses in two direction here. 1st is the shape of the plate if you were looking at it from the top/bottom, and 2nd is the front/back edges/corners of the brackets where the brackets contact the frame the framerails. The idea is to reduce the stress that's...

CAD files for a removable three-point hitch

In the end, I decided that I'm just going to make a high-clearance receiver hitch that will be permanently mounted to the rear crossmember. Will allow me to make better use of the space behind the rear axle (between the framerails) for storage and a drop-hitch is a relatively small item to store...

CAD files for a removable three-point hitch

Was planning on using these mounting brackets to attach two triangulated tubes that would have been attached to a receiver hitch that would have mounted to the pintle hitch like this. The whole receiver hitch assembly could be made to be removable, but I was planning making it a semi-permanent...

CAD files for a removable three-point hitch

Just uploaded some CAD files to theCAD Library for a removable three-point receiver-hitch mount for a deuce and a half. Started designing this a while ago, after seeing some of the receiver hitches that other member had posted pictures of on here. Decided to build a different type of hitch for...

    Building full hydro steering

Why not just mount the orbital valve on the engine-compartment-side of the firewall? If you feel like you really need to mount it in the cab, please at least build some kind of shield for it in case you have a high-pressure hose rupture. Lots of examples on pirate4x4 if you want to see what...

Double your air, double your impacts......

I've got a bunch of extra air tanks too, and I'm planning to use some of them to store fluids, but that doesn't really matter. Spent a lot of time crawling around under mah deuce, and figured out that I can fit one of those air tanks between each of the crossmembers, mounted parallel to the...

    2" removable receivers

Just noticed one more thing: I still think it's a bad idea to mount this to the bottom of the framerails, but in any case, when you sandwich something between two plates, it's always a good idea to make the two plates different sizes/shapes. Would also try to avoid making those plates with...

Filtering wmo with 2 x oil filters

Here's a link to a related thread, especiallyfor those of you that are interested in onboard fuel processing systems. Not any sort of expert in this area, just trying to figure it out as I get into it.
