    Transfer Case removal/replacing

Am sure the hoist on the doors method works great, but I used a large transmission jack. Made it very easy to adjust the angles and get everything lined-up right (was working by myself).

900 series fan clutch on a LDT deuce?

I would be very interested in an adapter/kit, except that I don't want to have to trim fan-blades. Would be more inclined to trim the radiator shroud. That should work too, right?

more questions & ideas related to fording kits

Thanks again for all the help. Added this to my build-thread and am re-posting here to help anybody else that's interested and might be searching for this type of info.

    Fording Kit Instalation

Where is the after fording maintenance outlined? I think I know what it probably entails, but am compiling all the fording-related info I can find right now to include in my build-thread.

    Making a fiberglass hood?

Yeah, sorry for confusing things. I was mistaken.

    Making a fiberglass hood?

G, you're absolutely right. It's exactly 2" wider at the nose. I fit it shortly after I picked it up, but had already removed the fenders. Width was spot-on at the back, was a little bit too long, but the lines up front matched the grill perfectly. Without the fenders I didn't even notice the...

    Making a fiberglass hood?

A3 hoods are the same width as the A2's, they're just a little bit longer. You can see where they rivet a strip of sheetmetal along the back edge of the metal hoods. My fiberglass hood was just made to the A3 length (I'll have to cut it down to fit my A2). The old steel hood weighs 57lbs and the...

    Making a fiberglass hood?

No. The frontend is longer, but the hood is the same size/shape. The length is in the cowl.

    Making a fiberglass hood?

I got a fiberglass A3 hood for my A2 and it's easily strong enough to walk on.

    CTIS Theory questions.

What about the Russian system was so much more reliable? Is it an inherent flaw in the way the system seals at the hubs or something? Can see how something like that might be difficult to overcome. I'm looking at all this from a distance, never having even seen the CTIS system on the A3's up...

pic request: hardtop to windshield hardware

Ah, thanks. Helpful to see how they did it on the bigger trucks. Think I'll chop off all those tabs and just bolt through the windshield frame. Looks cleaner.

pic request: hardtop to windshield hardware

Yeah, was good to know that I could disregard those tabs. Thanks again.

    CTIS Theory questions.

But he invited you to bring the truck to his shop? Hardly seems like anything to badmouth the guy and his company over. 3dAngus explained why they might be reluctant to give you more direct support and/or technical info, and it sounds like renovate7 got some helpful information out of them.

    CTIS Theory questions.

I don't have any firsthand experience with the CTIS system on A3's, but it doesn't have a great reputation. Would be curious to know whether this is due to any mechanical shortcomings, or if it's just by virtue of how the system operates. If the mechanical parts are even halfway reliable, what...

pic request: hardtop to windshield hardware

Yes, thanks. So the deuce does have bolts that go right through the windshield frame, unlike the 900-series hardtop, which has tabs on the inside of the windshield frame. Thanks again, that's exactly what I wanted to know.

pic request: hardtop to windshield hardware

I'm cutting down a 900-series hardtop to fit on mah deuce, and I'm wondering about the hardware that secures the hardtop to the windshield frame. I've read this thread and downloaded the PDF, and it looks like the hardtop is bolted right through the windshield frame? But this 900-series hardtop...

    Building full hydro steering

If you haven't already seen it, start by reading this, specifically this part (scroll down to the Two Unbalanced, cross-connected double-acting piston-type hydraulic cylinders part). No reason why you can't use two rams set up like you're thinking. Just need to select the right size rams for...

    Building full hydro steering

No reason you can't do that, but don't think you'd want to use two cylinders that were sized to be used independently. Would want/need to choose cylinders that were of the appropriate size to be used together in tandem like that. Make sense?

    Building full hydro steering

Only thing about the Boyce kit is that there doesn't appear to be much to it. Looks like a pretty basic agricultural-style ram and a couple of tabs. Coming from Boyce I'd guess it's pretty spendy too. Not knocking the quality or the company, just saying that I'd be more inclined to buy a ram and...

    Building full hydro steering

Not that I can see. Ram-assist is a pretty sure-thing. Would want to look at everything a lot closer if you were planning on going full-hydro.
