    M939/A1/A2 ABS vs. Non-ABS Trucks

That is old news, Bjorn. Yeah, that is a design flaw for sure. I adhere to that warning. However, when I was a newbie to the trucks, the first time I drove one, I had the truck in low range and put it in reverse with no ill effects. The problem comes in when you apply a reasonable amount of...

How much is a complete 12k service worth?

I am not sure about the price, but whether or not it is worth more would depend upon who was looking. For example, say you have a guy who is mechanically competent. That guy may not want to pay anything extra above the cost of supplies because he could have done it himself. Now say you have a...

    New bee

Contact a dealer like Dave Newman in PA or TNJ Murray in DE. They have export licenses and can sell trucks to you. Obviously, it will cost more than those on GL, but then again they will have gone over the truck before you got it! Welcome aboard.

Need info to start M944A1 for recovery from Rock Island

The tranny takes Dexron. I have owned trucks that had 10W oil in them when I got them and they came out of military service. I have been told that 10W and Dexron are basically the same except for some additives. While the trucks with 10W in them shifted fine, Allison recommends Dexron. I...

Need info to start M944A1 for recovery from Rock Island

I recommend that you get it shipped. Who knows what could be wrong with a truck that has been sitting for 10 years?!?! The trucks were in IL...you are in IL (although I have not MAPQUESTed the directions)...how far could it possibly be? You will need a detach. I don't even think a trailer like...

    avatar displays smaller than others

Seriously, though, I really like your truck. I thought it was a deuce shop van, but I see it is an M818 with a shop van body. Very cool looking!

    avatar displays smaller than others

It's genetic and I hear it skips every other generation. Not to worry...it appears that you have installed bigger tires to compensate for the problem. Oh, wait...you were asking about your avatar. :-D

    6 CTA 8.3 Liner Pitting

Check on the back of the antifreeze to see if it is approved for use in Cummins, Cat, Detroit, etc. engines. If it is, you can be fairly sure that it is the right stuff.

    Towing M1008 WITH M1009

Does your boat trailer have brakes? I would guess it does. If it does, that makes all the difference in the world. Without brakes, you are looking at the situation right here, which is far from safe. Anytime you have to drive two intersections ahead of yourself, worry about the towed vehicle...

    Robo impact tool

I am not sure what was wrong with the two I was using. They would not even budge a lug nut. Admittedly, it was very, very tight, but it could not touch it. I have a small sample size (N=2) as I mentioned before so, perhaps, there was something wrong with both. I stand corrected and will say...

Will an 8.3 cummins create too much torque for the M35 driveline?

Buy an M809 and add a turbo, or ante up and buy an M939A2 and turn up the fuel. There are guys on this list who have done both with success in CO.

    Robo impact tool

Man, the easy part is turning the lug nuts after they are loose. The hard part is breaking them loose, at least in my opinion. No way I need to drop the lug wrench and breaker bar to go grab the robo to finish removing the lug nuts. I truly hope guys will tell me my experience was not...

    Tow rope?

Remember, they call him RECOVRY4X4 for a reason! Thanks, Kenny.

You have John Winslow about 90 minutes south of you...off of exit 168 in NC on 95. John has A LOT of experience with all military vehicles, including CUCVs. I am sure he can fix whatever you need. John's # is 252-883-2509.

Source for New Old Stock Plastic Battery Boxes

Call Memphis Equipment (901-774-0600)...ask for Roy in parts. They are pricey, but they have everything if you can't find it elsewhere. I used to have them on speed dial for those parts I could not find anywhere else. I can't remember what I was quoted, but I seem to remember something like...

    Robo impact tool

We're talking about the 24V robo impact, right? If so, my experience has not been as good as some of those above. I had one and N3UKA (Dave) had one. I tried both. They both seemed to be in working order. However, they could not remove a lug nut from an M105 trailer! That is the only...

m35-a2 vs m35-a3 whichn is better

M16TY is right on the money with this regarding parts availability. Some parts are indeed A3 specific and they will cost you...and that's IF you can find them! For anyone who wants an M35A3, I strongly suggest talking to Terry McClanahan (on this list). I don't think there is anyone more...

m35-a2 vs m35-a3 whichn is better

I think that you will find that those who own them LOVE them and those who don't own them dislike them for whatever reasons, mainly because of the trucks' looks or the CTIS. There is no way to defend either aspect of the M35A3. I will add that the looks kind of grow on you after you own one...

What are the chances it'll run?

Worst case scenario is you have to replace the motor. CUCV motors are around and the HMMWV motors are very plentiful. It is not a straight swap, though, with a HMMWV motor. The motor is the same, but some of the parts on the motor are not (e.g., manifolds, etc.). Hopefully, it won't come to...

    M939/A1/A2 ABS vs. Non-ABS Trucks

I would also take a kit if anyone locates a bunch or if people do some type of group buy. I have heard they are very costly to the govt so I bet they will be expensive if someone finds them. As I said above, I'd rather have the kit than not. One question: would adding larger tires affect...
