I agree, the main problem with crimp connections is the quality of the components and crimp tools. I don't know how many times I've seen a failed crimp, and it looks as if it was crimped with a pair of pliers instead of the correct crimp tool!
This kind of nonsense is why I left California when I retired and moved to a small town in Nevada. People here mind their own business and leave you alone.
I used VHT (very high temperature) 1300-2000*F header paint. Don't know how many colors it comes in nowadays, but I use the flat black on my exhaust & stack and it holds up well. Usually you can find it at auto parts stores.
Finished vacuuming the cab, washed off any bird droppings, washed the leaves out of the bed, and a little touch up paint and were ready for tomorrows parade. The wind finally died down around 5:00pm, it had been blowing up to 55mph this afternoon. And today it was snowing in Reno.
