    Vent Window Post?

the post is part of the vent window assymbly, you have to replace the entire assymbly. only cheep way is to get junkyard parts. there is a thread on here for new assymblies but the are $400 plus per side. the post in that assymbly is also the window slide that goes down into the door

    M1009 Driver's Seat

I put the bucket seats from an 87 suburban in my 1009, arm rest on both sides and the base is about 3 inches wider at the back so you do not feel the metal in the corners like the 1009 seats, they dont flip up real easy, they have a dial on the side that you turn to lean them forward and back...

    Heavy Duty Headlight wiring harness

I think you are right scottladdy, the headlights have current draw not the system pushing current. With the headlight harness, the lights can now draw the maximum current they demand which makes them last according to design and makes them create the max lumens that they did not create before...

    Heavy Duty Headlight wiring harness

I did the same with mine, pluging into the battery using one of the side post. I also used the ground screw in front of the front batery and had no issues with the lengths of the wire. I do see the need to add a fuse. Doing this bypasses the fusable link that is between the batteries and the...

    M1009 directional control/turn signal switch

the arm controls both but they are two different switches inside the column. if it clicks and stays in place when you turn the turn signal on and the light comes on and does not blink, the switch is fine. the problem is you either have a bulb out or your flasher is bad. most likely a bulb is...

    86 m1009 build Mississippi Style

I think when you have military stuff, there is no law against it unless you were trying to drive onto a military base. there is a law that restricts you from impersonating a police officer so thats what would probably get you.

    M1009 directional control/turn signal switch

you need a steering wheel puller and a lock ring compressor. I bought my tools from LMC for less than $50 for both. I figured it would be more than once that I have to pull it apart so I might as well have the tools. It is not that hard to replace once you get the steering wheel and lock ring...

    electric trouble

it just pulls out when it is in the right possition, it takes a little force but there is just a bump on the end of the stem and two slots that you have to line up to pull it out, cant remember exactly what possition it needs to be in to line up the bump with the notch.

    Duramax and M1009

there is an attempt to do this somewhere out their on the internet done by a profesional builder and one of the magazines covered it. bottom line is it does not fit without either extening the front end or major changes to the firewall. yes it can be done but springs, axles, firewall and frame...

    electric trouble

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/csb/full.aspx?Page=177 they have them at LMC but very expensive. I bought one at Oriely auto parts but could not find it online. I beleive it was $125 at my local parts store. You may want to take yours apart first to see if it is the switch and not a grounded...

M1008 still pulling to the right

check to make sure you do not have a bent rim. and of course make sure you get a computer wheel alighnment. excessive play in the steering box and tie rod ends can cause bad steering also but it will typically pull in either direction when these are bad. one other thing is to make sure the...

installing insulating in the cold not going to well...

Other than moving to texas where it was 80 degrees for the last three days, I can only suggest getting a good propane fan heater to heat the inside of the truck by blowing it through an open window. You also want to store your material in your house for the night to get it to a working temp...

    voltage drop across resistor?

yes, if it does not recognize the temp sensor it will suposedly have a fail safe in it to auto cycle the plugs. the sensor suposedly has contacts that close or opens not sure which one once it reaches 130 degrees. It is not a variable resistance sensor it should only after glow if it is really...

    Barstow Pickup

i picked my 1009 up from there, it has been a while. no problems getting in and out, they were very lax at the gate, did not ask for any documentation they just sent me to the gl trailer where I got in line for load out assistance

    voltage drop across resistor?

the controler card does not know the difference, it is connected to the 12 volt side of the relay. It only cycles the relay just like the ignition switch does. It konws the difference in timing by the glow plug temp sensor. The card will cycle the relay until it reaches the propper temp. When...

    voltage drop across resistor?

i have two resistors that were good when removed, PM me if you want one.

    voltage drop across resistor?

typical from what i have seen the resistor stops passing power when it goes bad because the internals burn in half and stop passing current. I supose it could go bad and not cut the current like it is supposed to. however, when no load is present, you will get the full 24 volts to the relay...

    voltage drop across resistor?

check your batteries and the connections to them and to the buss bar. your input voltage should be higher than 24 volts. I think around 24.8 should be normal. If you don't have the right amount going into the resistor you wont have the right amount coming out. make sure your batteries are...

    electric trouble

one other note, to replace the wiper switch, you need a steering wheel puller and the tool to press the lock plate down to remove the snap ring around the steering column shaft. It is somewhat of jigsaw puzzle to put back togather also.

    electric trouble

looking at the part, it looks like that switch is for intermitant wipers, you need the one for non intermitant wipers. I believe the non intermitant wipers has 5 wires and the intermitant wipers has 7 wires. I would have to look in my spare parts to know for sure. you need to check your...
