if you have a garage, you can put some lift rings in the ceiling with some pullys and it makes for easy lift off and replace. I have not done this but I have seen pics of others who have. it is a lot of bolts to remove and replace. I have a soft top on a jeep and hate it. If you get a soft...
the only difference is the rear output shaft and housing adapter between two wheel and 4 wheel. The housing addapter bolts on to the exterior and can be changed without rebuilding the trans. to change the output shaft, you have to rebuild the trans. I had a two wheel drive unit and bought the...
check my post, i just did this on my 1009. move perches and shock mounts, u-bolt flip. hummer rims must be recentered or get spacers. I used ord 4 inch lift (rear shackle flip) with zero rates front and rear for 5 inch total lift. to do this lift you need the cross over steer also. with 37...
the bottle is a little unique, they switched to a square bottle that sits on top of the fender i beleive this was done around 84 or 85 for the civy models. The CUCV's were all 83 model parts so they kept the funny shaped bottle next to the radiator for all cucvs I had this problem with mine...
if you are only running 12 volt to the relay that switches the 24 volts on to the pump, you can get the source from the fuse box, on the upper left side there are ignition taps that you can put a flat spade connector into. It is a slot that is only half as wide as a fuse location and is marked IGN.
does anyone know how to wire this water temp gauge. This was in the civy cluster that I pulled from the 87 suburban with 350 gas motor that I parted out. I have been able to get everything working but this gauge. oil pressure gauge works, fuel gauge works, tach works. The water temp gauge...
I will check the two wire sending unit tomorrow, it is more expensive because you have to buy the plug also. If it works I will post the part numbers. I think the sending unit and plug was around $45. which is three times the cost of the single wire sending unit.
Thanks for the compliments, it has been a lot of work but I enjoy it. I do need to get some kind of spell check working on this computer.
I realized the error after I posted it.
Thats ok for the jokes, I thought it was funny also.
hope to get the gauge cluster finished this weekend.
I think our pin out documentation is the same. I currently have everything working except the water temp gauge. I installed a single wire sending unit and I cannot get the gauge to move, it just stays on cold. I am going to change to the 2 wire sending unit which is grounded at the sending...
I do not beleive there is a stock controler for the 4l80e and 6.2 becasue I do not think they were ever available in production vehicle, I do not beleive the 6.2 was ever used with a 4l80e since the 6.2 was replaced in I think 92 with the 6.5 and the first of the 4l80e was in 92 also. I could...
I actually bought a wench from another member while on my road trip. 12000 lb mile marker. I plan to put a 2 inch receiver hitch on the front frame mounted behind the bumper with the end sticking out of the center of the license plate holder. I will get a mount for the wench that uses the 2...
I spent a lot of money with LMC to insulate my rig with the behind the dash insulation, used the asphault base product and the carpet pad type product with the milar heat sheild on the floor on and then put the rubber floor on top of that. My 1009 is almost as quiet as the 2004 duramax I drive...
The new wheels and tires really make it look good. I had the 5 inch lift with the stock 1008 tires and it really bothered me. It bothered me so much I had to blow a bunch of money on the new wheels and tires. I feal much better now. LOL
Thanks, it is still in the works, I can only hope it...
The only way to stop a diesel is to remove the fuel input. As far as getting it to go faster, the only way to do this is to increase the fuel input. The only way the cucv to start is by having power to the IP and the motor spinning fast enough. Due to the auto trans, you cannot push start it...
the 12 volts on the rear battery is at the negative terminal. when you put 12 volts into the negative terminal you get 24 from the possative terminal.
the wire to the 12 volt terminal block does come from the back battery but it comes from the 12 volt negative post which is no longer a negative...
It looks like the third time is the charm with TCI. I finally got a chance to install the controler today and it appears to work. Due to my driveshaft issue I could only get it up to about 40 mph and it shifted fine from first, second and third. I did not want to go any faster and risk the...
If you have some time, shoot us some pics of the exhaust work, I am considering the turbo in the near future and I do not want to cut my frame or run outside the rails. looking at my engine, I cant see where there is enough room for two pipes in that location.
Got the new Trail Worthy Fab recentered 12 bolts with rock rings and 37 inch tires installed today, I am going to have to trim the front of the front fenders just a little bit but I think thats all that will be needed. I am going to get the tractors out this weekend and check it with full...
I have replaced all seals on my 1009 with standard lmc seals. Only thing not done yet is wing window and windshield. I have the seals but have not done these items yet. all seals worked well. I have read on here that the wing windows dont fit good so I held off on that. I am waiting until I...
I used rapco on my 1009, Marine green, base color for the woodland camo. I like it. If you use it and plan to use the spray cans for touch up, do not put in the harder because the sheen will be different. My suggestion would to put the hardner in the first coat and then put a second coat with...
