I plan on running 12 bolts with 37 radials on my 1009 (it has D60 front and 14bolt rear axle with 4:56 gears and a 4l80e) I am currently looking at an online vendor who sells them complete. My question is when recentering the rims what is the required back space (I was told 3 inches) in order...
Sounds like you broke the chain or the shift fork, if the pop happened when shifting then it is probably the fork, if the pop happened after shifting and when driving then it is probably the chain. get your 208 fixed or get a 205 and forget about the 241. you will have just as much fab work for...
I am working to complete my 1009 build and am having difficulty deciding on the wheels and tires. I have searched and read most threads on the forum and it has not helped me to decide.
A little info on my 1009.
I have added a 4 inch ORD shackle flip lift with zero rates, upgraded to dana 60...
re-thread not retap
your only hope would be to get a tap of the current size and re-dress the threads, you might be able to fix it. re-tap would require drilling larger and cutting new threads which would not work with existing parts.
I am not aware of any aftermarket parts that would fix...
had 12.5 and wished they were 10.5
I had 33X12.5 mud kings on stock 1009 and they are fine with light off road. You will have some rubbing if the off roading get serious. The 10.5 should have no rubbing since the 12.5's only rubbed when tightly turned and off camber. The rubbing was not bad...
not a problem
you still have some part of the mount left. just put an oversized washer under the bolt when you put it back togather.
I have an exhaust manifold bolt on my cummins 6bt in my motorhome that basicly did the same thing, I put a little bit bigger washer under it and it has been ok...
ord shackle flip on 1009
in process of installing ord 4 inch lift and shackle flip on my 1009, I am very impressed with the ORD products. If they are close in price I would go with ORD. you can probably find 100 people on here that has used ORD and likes them, probably not very many that have...
hydro assist bracket on diff cover?
just have to wonder how the hydro assist bracket works on the diff cover. from what I know the diff cover bolts are pretty short (threads not very deep) and having a constant push and pull does not sound like a good idea. I would think that you would be...
elocker
I really like the idea of the elocker. this way you can control when it is on and off.
having the detroit in the rear and being automattic does not make much difference in the rain or on pavement. you get some tire wear and noise but I dont think it is dangerous if you drive with a...
check pump at pump/ filter can give false conclusion
I would check it at the fuel pump. Unscrew the metal line on the ouput of the pump. (for safety, remove the power wire to your IP solonoid so that the engine will not start). Crank it over and see how much it produces. When the pump goes...
check mechanical fuel pump
when mechanical fuel pump goes out it will sputter fuel allowing it to start for 5 seconds and die. crank it a bunch of times and it will run for 5 seconds and die again.
both my 1009's did this when the mechanical fuel pump was out.
disconnect the output to the...
lmc slider windows
has anyone use the lmc slider windows. they appear to be all rubber without the alluminum, or the alluminum appears to be incased by the rubber.
would like sliders but also like the factory look. The LMC slider windows appear to look very similar to non-slider window...
zimc chromate primer
For those wanting to paint their alluminum sliders, or any alluminum. The best primer you can get is
zinc chromate. it comes in rattle cans but can be expensive. I have seen cans range from 12.50 a can to 49.00 a can for the same stuff.
I have an alluminum boat and I...
1008 looks good for 4k
The 1008 looks pretty good for 4k. They may have butchered the wiring harness but that could be replaced.
If it is close enough to you I would go look at it.
If you are going to buy one, you have to start looking at them every chance you can so you will have a better...
2500 hemi and 1008 not really apples to apples
The 1008 will not be anything like the hemi.
An 80's truck complared to a 2000 truck just wont be the same. and not as safe because of braking system, sway bar system etc. on the newer vehicle.
At the weight you plan to haul and the distance...
maybe you can trick your high idle
If you just want the rpm up a little in Low/Low you could probably add a secondary switch to put power to the high idle solonoid that allready exist on the throttle assembly. It would not be adjustable like a choke but it would keep the rpm probably above 1200...
tripple stick
I was going to do the tripple stick. cant see doing the doubler without all the mods.
I thought the 203 was steel thats why it is better than 241 but was not sure.
either the 241 or the 203 with the 205 gets rid of all chains, I think the 241 has a slightly lower gear than...
going to talk to ord and check 241 tcase
Due to the fact a 241 will be a direct bolt on and no real other work is needed. besides some extra work on the mating between 241 and 205, but ORD already has this figured out. I am going to look at the difference between the 241 and 203.
I thought...
2nd 1009 and a 1008 on the way
I have had a rust bucket 1009 bought from a friend, rusted out but ran and drove great so I bought what was a perfect body 1009 (in the auction pictures) until GL got ahold of it. Typical GL damage is bent driveshafts, dents in all body panels bent crossmember...
check out the ord doubler
the ord doubler uses a 203 front half only and with no slip yokes.
the doubler is same length as the np208
the 4l80e is about 2 inches longer.
thus it is only 2 inches longer in total
I will look at the ck adapter or I may switch to the 241/205 doubler instead if...
