Sudden shutdown (again) - Truck will not re-start

Update: removed injection lines and centre hex bolt unplugged in-tank pump so I could bump the starter without fuel spills measured plunger, bumped starter, measured plunger again - it seemed to have moved (have no soldier B) removed shutoff cover - lever sat in the 6 o'clock position and...

Sudden shutdown (again) - Truck will not re-start

*updated* Sudden shutdown (again) - Truck will not re-start Had one weird episode two years ago (almost exactly to the day): http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?77049-Sudden-shutdown-cause The same thing happened again. This time en route to home, with a 4 1/2 ton load of gravel...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Installed the hood lift - so much easier now to quickly pop the hood for maintenance and also less danger of getting it slamme down by a gust of wind. Installed brackets for the medium tow bar on the front cargo bed wall. Out of the way and easily accessible. I figured, the tow bar likes sitting...

Oil leak - how serious is it?

I do not see anything worrisome in the pictures, but I would plan on some extended preventive maintenance and care. The secondary fuel filters look as if they had not been touched in a long time...consider tossing them and the primary for a more modern spin-on setup (read up in the forum). The...

Taking Deuce on 1,500 mile ride. Help, thoughts, recommendations.

I did half that distance, 800 miles, when I picked up my Deuce. Marchplumber gave a good start. I would add - 24 V light bulbs for brake/turn lights (gets you noticed by LEO if one blows) - magnetic battery powered blinky lights (amber or red, depending on your highway traffic act) to put on...

    Downgrades in a Deuce

I'd do that. It is so bomb technician style. None of the "if at first you do not succeed, try again" wimpy stuff. My life insurance is all paid up, though.

Brake Fluid Leak Around Master Cylinder Cap????

Murphy says: "If it ain't broke, do NOT fix it". Good plan.

No Electrical When Ignition Switch is On

Batteries are ok, you say, so I would start with checking the battery cables, the ground strap to the frame and work my way forward from there. It could be a bad accessory switch ("master switch"). The TM has great step-by-step troubleshooting sections.

Brake Fluid Leak Around Master Cylinder Cap????

A copper washer is great; a flat plastic washer from the plumbing section (the ones used for sink traps; 1 1/4 inch I think) also works very well. I had the same problem after adding the remote reservoir...constant loss of brake fluid.

    Wrecker Identification Help needed

My two cents are that the best advice may well come from people that are not emotionally invested in what you are experiencing right now. Fact is, some MVs are beyond saving at this point in time (because they are not yet super rare, because fixing them up would cost a fortune in time and money...

    M342a2

BJT, you scored. This is the kind of truck I have been looking for - and which I never found. I agree with adding a hard top - also from a user standpoint, a soft top on a dump truck is just...wrong. Even though it does have the headache rack, I would still want a (thin) sheet of metal over my...

Pulsetech solar panel install location on Deuce

You could mount the panel to the cowl with silicone only and wrap the wires around the rear edge of the hood. That would eliminate the need for holes. You do not want to mount the panel behind glass (e.g. windshield) as it drastically cuts performance. Alternatively, consider a pole behind the...

LED headlight gripe of the day

Wow, interesting discussions. Thanks, guys! :-) I have one last spare LED headlight left and wil swap it in, after checking that low beam circuit and the lo/hi switch. If that light dies, it'll be back to halogens.
