With a smart charger the recommended method (in PS magazine) is to hook a second, good battery in parallel with the completely discharged one and place the pair on the charger for a while (I forget exactly how long). The good battery has enough voltage to keep the charger working, and the...
Only one that had an issue in my unit was an MEP-804 15kw unit. It managed to crack the radiator.
We also had a paralleling box between a pair of 802's that came back from reset not working properly and would drop power output (running from a single generator) every 8-12 hours. I lived next...
There IS a chance you damaged something trying to use jumper cables. The cables don't have anywhere near enough load carrying capacity for this. The military uses a slave cable to jump vehicles, which has cable the same size as the starter cable and battery cables in the HMMWV in order to...
White smoke indicates that some fuel is getting to the cylinders. The fact that it started an ran in California where it's likely quite a bit warmer than where you are at only indicates that they got it started. You never know if they used starting fluid (which is bad for these) to start it or...
If you are set up as a 4 door, you can do it out the back of the battery box. If keeping as a 2 door, there is a little space directly above the NATO slave plug, or if you want it over by the driver's side depending on what you have installed right now you can do it in place of the deep water...
My thoughts where the same as Chainbreaker, take something to strap down to the front of the trailer to give you some additional tongue weight if you are concerned about it. I'm not sure if I'd use sandbags if this is a flatbed trailer but if they are in good enough shape why not?
The trailer was built using a lot of off the shelf civilian components, rather than anything specifically military in nature. That probably included not having them make a special stamp for the brake fluid type on the cap.
As fr as I know, DOT 5 is the military standard to use in every vehicle/trailer that takes brake fluid, primarily due to moisture absorption by DOT 3/4.
A lot of these end up leaking fuel inside the engine area. Most common cause is leaking fuel lines.
Not end of the world, diesel isn't explosive so mot much of a hazard during testing, but will make a mess if not taken care of.
For images you can drag the file directly to the text window, or you can use the "insert image" button (right next to the smiley face button at the top of your text input window) or press "ctrl + P" to bring up the insert image box.
Yes, that is what I am trying to say (sometimes words aren't really very good for explaining a concept, but I think we are both saying the same thing here)
Here is a little closer picture of the Shunt. The actual nomenclature in the manual might be different, I haven't looked it up.
It's a...
Remove the battery cable that goes from the negative terminal on the rearward battery to the negative shunt (looks like 2 blocks with multiple thin bars between it, bolted to the side of the battery box)
(This is with 2 24 series batteries, but will be the same cable with 6t series, just find...
Nowhere on their page does it clarify whether this hitch is designed to work with either the airlift bumper or the non-airlift bumper versions of the HMMWV.
You are going to have to give them a call and talk to someone to find out the info you need.
My plan for a hitch is going to be take it...
I'm looking at Predator's website at the 2 versions.
Looked under the back of my 1123, and I don't see where the holes on the hitch would line up to any more than one of the bolts in the cross member. Maybe a second one, but it's a much smaller bolt.
Do you intend to move it around a lot, or is it just going to be get it home and let it sit? If you're just bringing it home a set of trailer lights from Harbor Freight will do the job just fine.
If you are planning to move it around, get some LED bulbs that work with either 12V or 24V and wire...
This thread is a sticky and has all the info you need to either buy or build one and get it installed.

Basically, the HMMWV has some steel frame runner, aluminum body, and a few other metals thrown in.
All those...
