addendum. to the above. I have to extend a huge thank you to young guys that pitch in and help out in our collection here. Without them, pills or no pills etc! the hobby (for me anywa'ze) just would not be possible. Because of the very heavy items we deal with in the servicing and maintenance of...
OOps..(cringe)..I will never see ANY of those ages again..ho hum..I still (have to) climb up and into the "tracked thing"..and the gamma goat is, well, a serious agility exercise. I was (15 years ago) diagnosed with 'chronic degenerative osteoarthritis...doc said "you just need replacement hip...
As mentioned previously, re wire the trigger (sensing) wire. (do not wish to be too laborious ..but) the actual Power out and leveling attained IS governed by B.E.M.F. (yawn! (back electromotive force)) Phew..google it, it makes interesting reading and will help you understand what is going on...
That is definitely one project worth following up. Post up the progress with pictures of that (strange) unusual looking truck. Nice. Thank you for the write up.

I was properly miffed when trying to park up my (recently) re acquired deuce. Bangs and judders despite shifting vehicle position forward and backwards to "relieve" the pressure of "wind up". No use!. Today I decided to fit a set of freewheeling hubs. Problem eliminated, But will drive normally...
Sad event. I agree with the post regards fitting forward facing cameras. My 5 tons all have forward facing cameras. A necessity in my opinion over here.
Welcome to the site hobby friendships and events to come. It will not take too long to restore your vehicle to the (green) military look. Keep it original and 24 volt. better starting and battery longevity. Try to post up some pictures direct to the site.
What an amazing journey to take. Just take your time and (easy on your truck) Enjoy it to the full. And be lucky. We are hoping for pictures and progress write ups.
As you pointed out, Anything is a better investment than the S.M. And your acquisition would probably be a lot less stress and worry. Also point out the enjoyment meeting the whole range of folks at the events.
That is quite a project you took on, and a great looking result. Post up more information of the work being carried out.
I am about to fit locking hubs (from my M45 530C) onto the deuce I just obtained. It generally not a good idea ON PERMANENT 6XS TRUCKS WITH SPRAGS, and i WILL ONLY BE USING...
