As I understand it, the 7.7k and 10k half shafts use the same ends, as the 7.7k failed they got replaced with a 10k shafts. you have to replace the gears inside the hubs to go up to the 12k half shafts.
So last week went and picked up my first military trailer. I have an MEP-802A sitting around that's kind of a pain to move, so when a trailer for it showed up for sale in my facebook feed I jumped on it.
Went and picked up the trailer, decided I'd rather not tow it with it being unknown...
I just got a private message correcting me, it appears the REV HMMWVs above serial 300000 got the helical gears, so will be a little more common.
That being said, I don't know how much of those parts have hit the civilian/surplus market, so still going to be very rare compared to the standard...
The helicals are stronger and quieter at speed, but they also introduce a side load. I don't know what all they were used in, the only one I heard of was the H1 Alpha, so if that's the case you'd be looking at a limited production part made specifically for the civilian side of things. If they...
Not even a minute into it and it's a bunch of one sided, opinionated crap. Doesn't get any better the longer I watch, and lots of flat out lies.
Entire video he talks about how the HMMWV is a General Motors product...
Without seeing the vehicle in question, no idea if you're going to need a mechanic right away for it or not. Most of us end up doing our own wrenching, and own other vehicles as well. A lot of the parts on these are not on the shelf at your local auto parts store, so depending on what breaks...
The EUC takes anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months, and it has to clear before you can arrange to go pick it up.
Once the EUC clears you're looking at another month or two before the SF97 clears, so you won't be getting it titled/licensed until that comes through.
power steering in these...
Slightly better fuel consumption at full load, but that's comparing a 20kw unit to a 30kw unit. Running the 30KW unit at only 20KW load will be similar or even better fuel economy than the 20KW at full load. Plus it gives a nice safety margin on parts and output, less overall stress on the...
EUC can take a month or two to clear after the purchase, then another month or two for the SF97 to show up. Plus you have to make it street legal and pass inspections.
I know in my state I can purchase a 3 day trip permit to drive the vehicle without any paperwork done, but still needs...
Both Kohler and Cummins have worldwide parts distribution, as do John Deere and Kubota, so likely a toss up either way.
Nearby there is a dealer/distributor that covers both Kohler and Cummins generators that claim to have trained and certified techs. This is for marine application, but there...
The turbo uses some of the waste heat and turns it into extra power by increasing the amount of air entering the engine. When you compare a turbo to a non turbo engine that are otherwise the same, the turbo engine will make more power, and work much better at higher altitudes.
Considering you...

Vehicles less than ten years old must have the federal odometer disclosure completed on the title, otherwise, a separate statement must be submitted.
looks to me like you'll be fine as long as the HMMWV was built more than 10 years ago.
The wet sleeve vs non wet sleeve being debated simply because of available machine shops around isn't really fair to the machine. I can't speak for the 3 cylinder JD engine, but I've seen more than a few small 3 and 4 cylinder Kubota diesel engines on reefer trucks with over 15k hours on them...
Just watched the news, it's a cat 2 right now, but expected to hit cat 4 before landfall. Entire state of Florida is already declared in the state of emergency, mostly seems to be because nobody bothers to prepare for one of these until the day before it's expected to hit.
if you're keeping it purely as backup, unless something isn't working right it shouldn't be engaging unless the engine is getting too warm anyway, so doesn't leaving it as is meet what you are trying to do? As I understand it the system fails in an "engaged" position, so disabling it will do...
No voltage at startup can be not having the "start" switch held long enough. From what I've heard you have to hold it until all the gauges have stabilized, which can be 5-10 seconds after it's fired and running.
As for the other issues, someone with more experience will hopefully be along soon...
the "sells with a clean sf-97" is for vehicles sold from the Marine Corps. They don't go through DLA, so don't get the same restrictions on their sale as the Army trucks do.
according to specs, max RPMs are supposed to be 3600 under load (4k no load, but what's the point?)
Peak torque is supposed to be 2000-2100rpms, so if you're running it much above that you're wasting fuel.
As for "over revving" to me it's anything that your cooling system can't easily keep...
6.2 and 3 speed reportedly cruises at 50-55 comfortably, with the 6.5NA and 4 speed people report 70-80. I'd imagine since the transmission is the same the 6.5 turbo will be 70-80 as well. It's more about the transmission than the engine, going from 3 speed to 4 speed makes the cruising speed...
