Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

I'd better start designing that flatbed...

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

So now I'm thinking that I could just attach four large steel tubes (with telescoping jacks inside them) at the corners, but on the front/back walls. The cabover rack / roofrack that I built out of 2" x .120-wall tubing is bolted to the lift-points using 1/2" plate and 1" Grade 8 hardware...

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

That's a good suggestion greenjeepster. The thing I was most concerned about was having to mount the front jacks out far enough to clear the tires. I would prefer to mount the jacks to the front/rear faces of the box (I don't want to increase the width of the vehicle). So I was thinking that I'd...

need to get a trailer from WA to CA

OK, thanks for the heads-up. If I can't find anybody to bring that trailer down for me, I'll have to come up to get it...

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

Thanks for posting! Love that truck. Hah. I tried that. Bought this water-damaged camper for $200. Was planning on stripping out all of the appliances and swapping everything into my M109. Things spiraled out of control, and the only thing that's made it into Mah Deuce is the stove (and I've...

need to get a trailer from WA to CA

Planning another trip up to OR/WA and it will most likely be sometime in April (got a trailer I still need to pick up at Brad's). Not sure when I'll be in the area though...

Good source for 11.00 X 20R inner tubes?

I need 8-9 11.00 RADIAL tubes. Can anybody help me out? Would like to find an alternative to paying $30-35ea. at the local tire shop.

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

Oh, and regarding the pop-up campers: I had a 10ft Alaskan Camper that I was planning on putting on the back of a Deuce. Would have been a great fit. But then I decided to just build an M109. Check out the custom pop-up camper that this guy built. VERY nice work. I've seen it in person and he's...

Has anyone built a big slide-in "truck" camper for a M35 Deuce?

I've been going back and forth about that. On the one hand, I think you're right. It would be easier to just get another deuce. Probably cheaper too, compared to how I was thinking I'd go about making my M109 box removable. But having the ability to convert my motorhome into a truck while I'm on...

    Got my 395's mounted (finally!)

Only thing you can do is get wheels with different offset/backspacing. This is what I did, but there are other/better (and more expensive) options if you're running big tires (HEMTT wheels, etc.).

    Got my 395's mounted (finally!)

The front hubs are already 'flipped'. You can only make the front axle narrower by flipping the hubs, and that requires a different braking setup.

    Got my 395's mounted (finally!)

I've had just the opposite experience. I've run 35x12.5" tires on 7-8" wide wheels on a lot of different trucks, and I love the way they handle at speed. The extra sidewall bulge is a great way to protect the wheels, and it helps to keep the beads from unseating off-road at low-pressures.

    Flipping headlights

The headlights on my '63 Kaiser are mounted in the low position. I'll have to move them when I install a winch. <- pic

    Canadian MLVW wheels

Agreed. That's a great price if the tires are in good shape.

    Canadian MLVW wheels

Prefair gave me that shipping quote, and I was in the same boat (already had the tires I wanted to run).
