I wouldn't reuse the piston. The above post is correct about replacing the rod too. Take the heads(s) to a rebuilder and have them checked out.

I made braided stainless for mine. IIRC it cost around $80.00 for all the material, fittings and hose, but well worth the piece of mind knowing that the rubber ones aren't there to leak and break.

Yes, the trans and t-case will get VERY hot after an hour or more of run time at speed. I hit mine with an IR thermometer after a 2 hr drive and after 5 min of stop time it was at 160.
