Harmonic damper/balancer (some are both) serves to damp torsional vibration on the front of the crank. Even with two alternators, coolant pump and power steering pump, the front half of the crank is subject to torsional oscillations. Diesel engines are more prone due to much higher compression...
I can see we are on the same sheet of music. Still waiting on my EUC to clear on the M1031. The most useful CUCV around, unless you are in need of medical care.
I'll be using mine for building fences. The generator is perfect for my welder (3 phase) with only one engine to maintain. Plus...
24 volt units? If the thread is right, you can use them without the ballast resistor. Better since glowplugs will fail in cascade once one fails with ballast resistor. Each failed glowplug increases voltage to the remaining by 12.5%.
I was really stressing earlier. Thanks for bringing that up, guess GL has grown too fast. $60 beats the stress, plus I get a direct title. Something of real value in a low mileage vehicle. No, I'm not selling it. 12kW of mobile generation with LSD/locker equipped 4x4 AND a NP 205? That is a...
Thanks, Warthog. I was just worrying over nothing. Or more realistically, wondering how I got such a deal. It is missing most of the tools but has two sets of NATO cables and the grounding rod slide hammer. Still a bargain for $4601. With tax and premium, still under $6k. Will take $800 in...
Great. I just won a M1031 with 9009 original miles in running condition, only the sale number is 10826 so it is a scrap sale, no SF97 provided. Overall, the vehicle is in great shape, why did it get sold as scrap? And furthermore, why the EUC?
Probably went "over-center" on the injection timing due to extended RPM. When you slowed down, the timing went back in range. Timing advance is set by fly weights and springs. What saved you was the governor reducing injected quantity due to RPM.
Install an overdrive or drop the axle...
The replacement plugs appear to have different sealing geometries. The threads do not seal, it is the shoulder which seals the combustion chamber. If they do not leak (soapy water around the threads on cold start), all is fine.
Wiring? The plugs are parallel, electrically.
Per Federal Register, they are to provide reason(s) for rejection. Commerce control it (dual use) and US Munitions List items are restricted to prevent their use against US or allied forces. The investigation is primarily to preclude violators of export controls. The phone/physical...
Wow, I had not been following what these were going for when I bid and won one at Ft. McCoy. I got lucky, really lucky. 9k miles, 1 hour on the generator. Once the EUC clears, it will be a mad road trip to get it back.
I will never pull the box off. Might add air conditioning. And will...
Crankshafts are constantly accelerating and decelerating even when operating at constant speed. in a V8, there are 4 decelerations as the pistons on compression come to TDC, then 4 accelerations as the cylinders fire. Every revolution. In a gasoline engine with a high 10:1 compression ratio...
There is only ONE bearing for the generator. The engine end is supported by the engine's rear main bearing. That is why the generator is connected by a flex plate.
The exciter end of the generator has the single, sealed bearing which is rated for 10k hours. Check for radial play there...
The 10" casters from Northern Tool have weak hubs that will bend with slight lateral load. They will work fine for the front (control cube) end but the engine end will probably over-load them.
You can straighten them out, then weld in gussets to make them work. The wheels are 2-piece...
Sure. Use casters up front, fixed in the rear. Helps if you create a tiebar link on the casters and put a drawbar in the middle.
I've done this on my 002A (around 1050 pounds with fuel and batteries), only using a 2-speed with reverse lawn tractor transaxle and 24 volt electric motor. Geared...
Because three phase motors don't need start/run capacitors. Each phase is 120 degrees offset which automatically rotates the field.
This also means reversing the rotation of direction is done by switching two of the three legs.
These washers are 3/8" OD, 1/4" ID and 0.032" thick. McMaster-Carr have metric equivalent, only they are a bit tight in ID. No problem, I used a letter sized F reamer to fix that.
Or you could just order 94397A542 which they now carry. Perfect fit.
Stop. You will do damage, probably lethal damage. You don't understand three phase alternating current.
A surplus motor will be cheaper than a phase converter. And you might be able to sell the existing motor.
That motor is switched with a 3 pole contactor which is controlled by single...
If you have the Mitsubishi (geared) starter, a good 002A will start down to the 40s without any pre-glow. These starters spin the engine over a bit faster.
For insulation, rigid fiberglass board should work.
