    The combined fleet (attn. Kwai)

I showed the picture of the lineup to my better half. I explained that these trucks belonged to ONE guy. Paving the way, you know....She said: "single?"

chunks of metal in motor oil

Kudos to your cochones for fishing the chunks out and continuing with your day (and another 8k). I would have pulled the panic cord right there and then. The shedding of unnecessary parts means that an engine rebuild is raising its head. In a way, at least you got enough additional mileage out...

Quick question - dual circuit brakes

Is it likely that a 1986 M35A2C with a VIN starting with 292272 has dual circuit brakes? I thought I had read that the VIN starts with 1040 on the trucks with a dual master cylinder, and that only 1987 and 1988 trucks came with it.

    Brakes, Oh, My!

To me, there is a big difference in "having" to work on my vehicles (because of an unscheduled repair or problem) or "wanting" to work on my vehicles (to do PM, upgrade, etc.). The former always requires me to pump up my motivation... Hey, could you post a pic of your truck? :)

    Hog Farm Deuce

The Deuce is designed to run 11.00-20 tires. They fit the stock rims perfectly.

    Finally I have aquired a M35

Truck looks good :) I am still envious....short of the MLVW's becoming available, I am looking at having to go through the import hassle...

    Put the M816 to work.

I operated a wrecker crane for several years and can only concur. While it was not an M816, but a commercial application, the same principles apply. It had 26 ft max. reach and 20 metric t (44k lbs) lifting capacity. However, we regularly went way beyond that for rescue operations. I often had...

    Canadian M35 (MLVW) For sale.

The Canadian MLVW Deuces were built by Bombardier in Montreal under license. About 2700 or so were built in the early 1980'. They do have some upgrades, compared to the US M35A2, for example the Detroit Diesel, power steering, Allison Auto and the hydraulic winch, but they are not quite at the...

    Stretch's Haspin road train

The real reason why people are upset is because the camper is not OD green. You ought to fix that.

Anybody near Burns Harbor, IN - Deuce to check out

I was looking at something unrelated and came across an active eBay auction. There is undoubtedly a 2.5t truck behind that old MACK cement mixer. Maybe someone feels like rescuing a Deuce? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150251507015&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:CA:1123 Look at the...

motor wizard needed! lds ldt questions

Off topic, but...funny, that. I recently learned that what I really wanted to do was to rip out two walls, build ceiling beams and lay down hardwood floor. If it hadn't been for my better half, I would never have known! I would have wasted my time tinkering in the garage. I also almost bought a...

    Bearing Question

It is my understanding that the seals are not only there to keep stuff in, but also to keep stuff out. Also, gear oil is considerably thinner than bearing grease and, if mixed, the thinned down sludge may not work so well in bearings designed to be greased. I believe that, in a Rockwell axle...

Perfectly ok 1989 M35A2C gets broken up

Thanks for the insight! While still sad that a truck gets chopped up, at least it is not one of the latest Air Force trucks....

Perfectly ok 1989 M35A2C gets broken up

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260210914033&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016 I do not think I am misinterpreting the ad. Someone has a latEST model M35A2 that, judging from the pictures, is pristine - and kills it. I just do not get it. Am I somehow weird? It just pains me...

Actually found a Deuce, well close to one local!!

The Canadian Forces are actually still running about 2700 "Medium Logistical Vehicles - Wheeled" which are powered by a Detroit Diesel and have auto trannies. They are a hybrid between M35A2 and A3. Super singles. They were license built by Bombardier in Quebec in the early 1980'...
