    Touch Pad Master Switch Repairs

Never seen a scamadic for that thing, may be proprietary.... Probably difficult to repair with surface mounted chips and all. Follow gimpy's advice and install a real switch. The electronic one should have an on/off switch IMHO, like the warning label says "Do not start vehicle while radio...

Received the second volume of the FMTV operator's manual the other day, thanks aboonski! They must have one heck of a glove box on those trucks, compare the -10 for the xm757, about the same as for the deuce. :-)

    Prices on M49A2C?

I paid $3,300 for my M49A2C back in '95 Camp Lejeune, NC DRMO....high even then, runner, very low mileage non-turbo, complete with hoses, nozzles etc

    Cranetruck, Thanks!

You are welcome! Glad it has a new home doing what it's supposed to do, not gathering dust in my basement. :-)

Yeah John, much better, same dimensions as the 3512, but 6 micron nominal. Thanks.

Shock mounting solutions for shelter radio gear?

I'd think that would be a rather complex engineering problem. The radio gear can handle a certain amount of banging around, but may be more sensitive to some frequencies. The stiffness of the rubber mount will determine what kind of vibration is transferred to the equipment etc. Leaf springs...

    Fuel filter subs

Thanks, got the info. The FF906 is only 3-5/8 inches tall and will not work. Can't find any spec on the FF973, which is the Hastings equivalent to the NAPA 3512 other then what you were told by the Baldwin rep (it wasn't listed on the page you sent me). Another potential problem with the NAPA...

    Fuel filter subs

Okay thanks, I use a NAPA 3512 as secondary and a final filter element from Memphis, but don't know the brand, probably closer to mil spec.

    Fuel filter subs

Just a heads up on this subject, the original secondary and final fuel filters for the multifuel engine (11610298) are rated 5 microns. The WIX/NAPA 3512 is only 10 microns..... Considering the possibility of rust particles in a 40 year old fuel tank and metal to metal seals in the IP and FDC...

    Deuce overheating help.

These engines run cool, for all my driving the temp has never exceeded 208°F (my max). I'd go with emmado's suggestion, flush the rad and engine. While the radiator is off, check the water pump. Of course, replace the coolant if it's more than a few years old.

Thanks for posting the images! Seldom see close up images of these trucks. If you don't have a torch, use a grinder to cut the screws. Is that (blue canister) the engine air filter?

    Tire repair

The grader tires are probably the correct size, 405/70R20, but the problem is that they are not built for "speed" and max out at 30 mph or so. There are some Michelin tires used by Unimoggers that are correct, all with "tractor" type treads and about $1,000/ea. The original 8x8 tires (16-20)...

    Tire repair

It's probably safe to say that none were made after 1990, even the NOS tire I have has a date code "499", which should be the 49th week of 1989. That's about the time the vehicles were all surplussed. So, how important is the outer layer to the overall strength of the bias ply tire?
