T6 in the CJ-4 variant has adequate levels of extreme pressure anti-wear agents for flat tappet engines. Remember, the 002A engine is stroking the injection pump 1800 times a minute. It takes about 200 pounds of force from that cam to generate the 2000 PSI at the injector. Far more load than...
Optimas may start a deuce but they are far from optimum if you have extended cranking required. Cold cranking amperes is based on the surface area of the plates. Optimas are made of very thin plates, meaning high surface area so they work. For a while.
Where they lack is amp-hours. The red...
If that wire is P50J16, it is always hot when the batteries are connected.
For MEP gen sets, the circuit is the first letter and two numbers, the second letter in the fourth position is the connector and the final two numbers are the wire size.
I'm 100% self-taught on power generation and repair. I did manage to acquire course work materials from the school, enough to enable me to pass the MOS (then 52D) exams far above Army averages at that time.
It helps that I also have a degree in mechanical engineering.
Finally a useful load today. I was gifted a 1980s era Jepson 14" abrasive cut-off saw and used the generator in 120 V two-wire config, just a pigtail drop off the load terminals with NEMA 5-20 duplex receptacle. The saw is rated at 14 amperes but that doesn't count reactive power. The ammeter...
Rather have that crusty feeling (as long as it isn't CARC, done that once) than the smell of steel after grinding. Rust is the worst. That hand cleaner works well on fresh paint.
That longer black hose doesn't flow well at all. It won't run the long sander and the DA just barely operates...
If the leak is visible from under the vehicle, this sounds like wheel cylinder leak (brakes) and not axle/bearing seal leak. If the axle seals leak, this will be seen as a leak BETWEEN the duals or in the front, just inside the wheel.
Brake wheel cylinders like to leak, especially this time...
You mean MEP-002A? If so, the battery charging issue could be a blow fuse. Look under the fuel cut-off solenoid, on the vertical panel near the oil filter. A round fuse boss.
The fuel cut-off solenoid is bypassed in the startup connection which puts voltage to terminal 28 of switch S1 when...
58" long, 36" wide and 39" high. 1084 pounds.
Best placed in a truck with single point lift through the lifting eye and a chain. Kind of hard to pull the forks out with only 6" a side.
Ship longitudinally, either engine forward or back. CG is right at the lift eye so place load accordingly.
If the voltage is fine in the other leg, the problem is that winding or connection. By meter, I assume you are talking about a verifiable hand-held meter, not the panel meter. If so, the problem is likely in S6, the reconnection switch. It cannot be the voltage regulator as this controls the...
Spark ignition (SM) oils. This is a diesel discussion. At least one manufacturer of diesel engines has had issues with CJ/CJ4/CJ+ oils with respect to tappet wear.
Now the MEP-002/003 series are probably safer when run properly (no idle) since it is the reciprocity failure in the PV...
I would stick with conventional oils which have sufficient ZDDP as these are flat tappet (not roller) cam engines. And the injection pump is also cam actuated, once per revolution.
As synthetics are CJ+ and later (C is for compression engines, the second letter is the revision in API) and...
A 65 pound, 130 Hp turbine is going to drink fuel at a rate of over 100 pounds per hour. 15 plus gallons per hour, give or take. A 5:1 reduction unit will easily weigh 40 pounds but still that is a flyweight aircraft engine for 130 Hp, fine if you don't want to go far. Put it in a two-seat...
NAPA may catalog the filters but not every store carries them. I'm sticking with stock filters all around since I will keep fresh, clean fuel in my generator. About the only issue with stock filters are the cork gaskets on top and bottom which can decompose. Change every five years, even if...
Better the gear oil leak out than turn the GAA into slidge and spew into the brakes. Always check the slinger vents in the hub so that won't ever happen. The inner seal keeps GO from getting in the GAA. The flange gaskets keep the gear oil off the rims.
The injection pump is prone to seizing the control collar mechanism, either the collar seizes on the piston(collar slides to regulate injected quantity) or the shaft seizes in the precision bore. The precise fit of the shaft in the bore is what seals the 8 PSI of fuel from leaking. It doesn't...
Mine was possibly the worst. Evidence of leaks upon delivery. 1" of crud in the bottom. Heavy rust on the bottom and up to the seam on the back.
I first pressure washed, then boiled with TSP and then removed the filler strainer support bracket, desoldering and drilling out the six copper...
Easy job. Pull the axle flange bolts (middle of the wheel assembly). Axle flange comes off the splined axle shaft. Now support the axle on jack stands and pull the two octagon nuts securing the brake drum to the axle. You have to bend the lock tabs out of the way. With both nuts off, the...
