More, there were two different cranes used on the M1013 and M1014 MAN trucks, I should have some images of the version used with the Pershing 2 missile system....
Edit: Added image.
Still digging for more info for you. Here is the FMTV spec and pics. The lifting capacity varies substantially with the extension of the boom. The FMTV is close to the HEMTT M985 Grove crane and can lift 11,000 lb at 7 FT.
For comparison my HIAB (avatar) has a capacity of 8,000 lb at 6 FT (or...
With winch, the front axle load could be 6640 (3020 Kg). What about the driver, is it with or without?
Do the M621 trucks have roll-over protection and does the axle with locker weigh more?
...and welcome to the site!
This is what the FMTV crane looks like.
Joel, it's not a K-boom, so I'm 99% sure it's not a HIAB.
Edit: Added illustrations of crane from hemtt TM (M984) and MAN 10-ton truck. (Right click and open link in new window for hi res.)
Looking good Jon, now let's see it installed. :-)
As you know, the exhaust manifold is divided into a front and a rear section. Based on my yet limited experience with the dual probe set-up (one thermocouple in each), the rear runs a little hotter than the front, so if I may suggest, install the...
Those are standard "Packard" waterproof connectors, one male and one female rubber part protecting the actual electrical connector within.
Wiggle and pull. When you re-install lubricate parts with some dielectric compound.....

Edit: Added image...
Shackles with a 3/4" pin should be able to handle 6,500 lb, just look for different brands and the capacity.
The pintle ratings should be listed by various manufactures also depending on size.
How they are used and rated on the truck is a different matter....the TM should give the load limits...
EZ, the xm757 all came with a front winch, but they were installed upside down to get the drive aligned with the PTO, which makes is difficult to install the level winder normally used with the 20,000 lb winch. That said, I might still get one and see what's involved in mounting it.
The NSN for...
They are from an old MVM article.
The reason for the looped tubing is to use what's available on the original set-up.
See the images below for a bypass using pipe plugs instead. Also, note the necessity for changing the fuel delivery after the bypass.
Pics? I'll see, the bed is on now so it's hard to see all the little details....
There are four clamp assemblies, each having two 7/8 inch rods going down on each side of the frame rail to a block below the frame.
I'll look for old images.....
Edit: BTW, where did you find that PTO, don't...
I have been looking at a level winder for my front mounted 8x8 winch and found this, which is the rear winch for an M756 pipeline truck. It is also a 5-tonner winch (20,000 lb capacity), but it appears to be installed upside down like mine.
The level winder is different from the ones I have...
Check your idle rpm, it may have to be adjusted up a bit or use the hand "throttle" to increase the revs until warmed up like Jon stated.
The idle is set higher on the turbos vs the N/A engines.....
About 750 for N/A and 825 for turbos.
Edit: Added image.
Thanks for posting, Jon! It says something for bypass filters in general. 0.01 microns Wow!!! The one I have installed only cleans to 5 microns......, that would be good for the fuel system also....
Out of curiosity, how is your fuel tank, any rust?
One cause of fuel in the crankcase oil is a leaking FDC piston rod. The metal to metal seal can be marred by tiny rust particles and fuel will leak directly into the IP and mix with the oil.
So, bypass the FDC, change oil and go from there.
