Before trying to start next time, run the in-tank fuel pump and bleed the fuel system by opening the bleeder valve on top of the secondary/final fuel filter bracket. If you get air bubbles instead of a solid stream of fuel, you should look for an air leak, gaskets, fuel lines.
Did you replace...
Joel, while you are at it, see how the crane is to be mounted, you may need to consider that also. The frame may have to be free and clear for the crane mount, if clamped like mine...
Joel , my set-up is like G's.
My truck was originally an M49 tanker, so the PTO/drive shaft had to clear the tanks for the route to the rear mounted pump.
Remember to allow for the up and down movement of the main drive shaft when locating the hydraulic pump.....
Yeah, Ernie, the filter "condition" indicator is actually a vacuum gauge. It turns red at about 20 inches of water (not mercury).
Edit: Normally while driving, I see about 4 to 6 inches of water on my Magnehelic gauge shown in the image below.
Use 5/8" heater hose and observe the "In" and "Out" arrows on the heater itself.
Here is the PS mag note mentioned by jwaller.
Edit: Added wiring diagram and heater flow directions
It is possible to break the locking pin if the switch is misused, here is the correct procedure explained (PS Magazine section, old site).
When this happens, the light switch, upper right hand lever, operates without the need to unlock using the lower right hand lever.
I have one switch with a...
Here is an old thread covering the air cleaner, including the use of a 5-ton canister on the fender of a deuce, couldn't locate the image of the mock-up, though....

You may want to read up on the use of "deep cycle" vs starting batteries. A starting battery rarely gets discharged and I think a deep cycle needs to be discharged every so often.
IMHO the red-top is a better choice here, but I could be wrong....
Edit: A yellow-top is good if you have an...
Here is the info you need.
BTW, lead acid batteries love cold weather for the low self discharge rate (they live longer), but want room temp for best cranking performance.
Edit: The only reliable way to check your batteries is to get a hydrometer and measure the specific gravity.
The forward facing "running" lights are not on when the headlights are on.
Put the lower left lever on the 3-lever switch in "park" position for forward facing amber lights..
Edit: Agree with dabtl.....
I got my .200 ratio adapter from Clark Truck Parts in WV about ten years ago, they may still have some... A list member also sent me one from Norway from an M621 deuce. Sold the extra unit to our late Bruce Kalin....
According to the TM parts listing, the NSN does reflect the ratio (see above...
Kyle, if you have problem with your start button, it's time to install a diode to suppress the voltage spike that develops each time you release it. The start relay coil produces a voltage transient, which is largely ignored in these circuits. The start button contacts arc and get burnt after...
Patrick, when I use the crane, the rpm is around 1,200 to 1,500 and the consumption about 1 gallon/hr. The TM shows 2lb/hr (0.27 gal), which must be for the engine without any load whatsoever. That's why it never get warmed up in the Winter. :-)
Anywho, to get to the point, no diesel including...
